@johnsmithfakename84225 ай бұрын
@@ethansmith9065 Superchargers and Turbochargers are two different beast. Superchargers are connected to the engine and are constantly forcing air in. In a way a supercharger is a Naturally aspirated engine in a smaller package. A supercharger is great for instant power, but lacks the high RPM HP of a turbocharger. A turbocharger uses exhaust gasses to spool up a turbine, this induces turbo-lag. If properly made both sap the same amount of power from the engine, but a turbocharger is easier to make, and easier to make right.

I made a post about the need to cool the body of the supercharger and I guess because I added a link to a YT video that showed the tactic I described my post was removed The fins are actually a coated polymer. The problem is that nobody pays attention to the temp on the supercharger and it overheats, melts the coating off of the vanes and thats it, you're done. The sellers all recommend 85 weight oil to cool and that is total bollocks. You need to put the correct Supercharger/Forced Induction oil in the thing. You also need to add cooling to the body of the supercharger and the best tactic I have seen and used myself is a liquid CPU cooler with additional heatsinks added to the heat exchanger when you mount it to the body of the supercharger. If you do not cool the supercharger it will grenade every time without fail. You have to remember that despite what any of the sellers claim these are not new, they are remanufactured and my belief is that whomever distributed the spec for remanufacturing these blew it on one of the clearances in the bearings/vanes/etc and thats why the constant overheating issue! There are also too many people trying to run 85 weight oil to cool it and that just won't cut it!
@eriksimca94097 ай бұрын
exactly this, the supercharger itself isnt bad. Kompressor haus from the UK specializes on making supercharger kits for beetles with these chargers, they work when handled properly

The oil capacity is max 100ml. Recommended volume from seller to seller ranges from 40ml to 100ml. DO NOT use 85 weight gear oil as the sellers all suggest. You will be sorry! Use proper Supercharger Oil, and again get that CPU cooler rig set up on the body of the supercharger. YOU MUST cool the body or it will die in very short order when it overheats! Also 15k is the max between internal oil changes!

9:40 One suggestion. When working UNDERNEATH (on your back), with these midget vehicles (and possibly with any undervehicle work) PLEASE, PLEASE, wear a cheap $2 pair of "protective" glasses, so that when you "whack" something up under there, the shyte that drops down (there's always something, like road dust, gravel, rust etc.) - you can still see afterwards, instead of having grit in your eyes for days if not months afterwards. Nothing like a facefull of old rust and dust in your eys - to destroy any enthusism of working upside down...

Sammit already did this on his kei car in Japan, they are so loud and the plastic fins deteriorate very quickly, the original real versions of these superchargers (non-temu shite) cost half the price and are actually on the Subaru Pleo, so if you want a real one that will not feed the engine full of plastic debris, then the Subaru Pleo supercharger is the one you want, it is exactly the same except it has metal internals instead of the temu plastic ones, they are a AMR-500 Supercharger and only cost like $50 odd for a proper one, the only thing that saved Sammit's Kei car from killing itself, was the intercooler caught all the plastic debris and stopped the engine from breathing it in, mad little rig though, a blown V4 or V6 would look killer in the tray and would be very unique, doubt it would fit under the seat, LOL

Carburetor is going to hate being on the boost side. They need to be designed to handle blow-through boost. Changing the pullys is how you want to increase or decrease boost, it sounds like whatever you've done to bleed off boost isnt keeping up if your spiking to 15 psi when you close the throttle. Just another reason to have the carb before the blower
