285 fps. Wow. Fully impressed. I have a Bear Flare bow from the early 80s, that my father bought new. I inherited the entire setup when he passed. Arrow build is a 2419 Eastons, with some type of aluminum filler rod that runs the length of the shaft, the broadheads have no name or markings on them that I have ever found but look similar to Razorheads. Total arrow weight is over 1200. With the bow set to my fathers dimensions 31"@80lbs, we see 165fps. I am alive today because of the animals that this bow killed to feed our family. I don't think my father ever took a shot past 40 yards, but he also never had an arrow fail for complete pass through 100% of the time. Turkey, whitetail, and other species.

Very cool, tinkering is fun but costs alot money, particularly if you aren't given the gear from sponsors...a meat and potatoes setup like you father's that will always work and produce. Your speeds are close to my longbow speeds. Upgrades and fancy gear rarely mean more dead animals...

I had to go back and see when this video was posted. I watch a lot of archery channels. I don't think I know everything. I like 17 to 20 percent FOC. Modern archery allows the individual archer to custom load their bow. Build your your own load for every bow you own. Be confident, be successful, and practice, practice, practice!

Ive been building my arrows for little over 4 seasons now from bare shaft start to finish, about 3 dozen now and i must say even though its tedious and time consuming to do it the right way. I truly enjoy it and it allows you so much fine tuning to build what you and your bow need exactly. I was always disappointed paying someone to setup my arrows and there was still a lot left to be desired when someone else just cut and glued in inserts. Now theres endless possibilities. And my newest VAP SS elite arrows are my slickest most proud build to date. 4 fletch PM23 vanes. 60 grain total ethics inserts and collars, 486 grains total which is my lightest arrow to date. Unfortunately yet to see what they can do on an animal this year. But in practice and experimenting these things are deadlyyy…coming out of an Rx-1 at 75lb draw, 29.5” draw length.

I love ABT! Was using a 407 grain hunting two blade fixed for last year. Got pass through on deer but not on hogsevery time. Went to a 430 grain this year. Optimum speed for my set up at 268fps. I don't shoot at deer or hogs past 35 yards 99% of the time. 58#'s at 28" Elite Ritual 33. I use a CBE TL 3 pins slider. Pins set for 18,24 & 35 yards. Because I hunt from ladder stands, 15' tall tripod and a box blind at 14' tall. I know the distances to the feeders so my pins set is dead on distance for the places. The hog place is the 18 yard shot to the feeder. Gotta tinker with stuff all the time to maybe find a new sweet spot on any Peary of the equipment.

I shot rip tko last year until I couldn’t get them anymore, which they were probably the best arrow I ever shot, then switched to axis match grade with aae vanes I bought from mfjj, now o shoot stock black eagle arrows with half outs and blazer vanes, my arrow is 420 grain and I have a 28 draw length with a vxr 31.5, it is by far the best grouping arrows I have ever shot, keep up the great content!

Same on the rip tko elites, best arrow I’ve shot but can’t find them consistently so I switched to carbon express maxima red sd, I tried BE rampages and they did shoot good but were very brittle, so my red sds shoot just as good but are way stronger, 31 inch draw at like 525 grains shoots like 300 fps with my elite ritual 35 with my let off stops almost all the way in like 75 or so percent letoff

One thing I think would be good to do with all these arrows builds would be to get a lab radar chronograph and look at the speeds at distance. I am not advocating for any certain arrow weight but lighter arrows slow down faster than heavier arrows i.e. increasing pin gap as you get farther out. Honestly I have no clue what outcome this will have but would be a really interesting data point. Love the ABT arrow stuff.
@hootiesfilms6446 Жыл бұрын
I think im going to pick up some of these x impacts. Mostly because options are very limited when looking for 200 spine, but also the straightness of the shafts is attractive and this outsert collar system looks really cool.
@JimD45702 жыл бұрын
I like that they have outserts for the 204/5mm also I like a tough arrow. I also like that FOC to arrow weight ratio where you are running a relativly high FOC at about 400-425 grain over-all arrow. getting your arrow speed in that 271-280ish speed range. This year I am running a 230 grain arrow with 18 FOC at 281. It feels right..

Love the ABT, I’m constantly changing things. I jumped up the RF band wagon and quickly got off. As a southern bow hunter shot distance can quickly change. But the quality broadhead is something I’ve focused on. For me the G5 Montec has always been one of the best flying heads ever but sharpness was disappointing. So I worked on them till they are IW sharpe. Currently shooting 435 grains. In the 285fps and super happy with my current set up.

Pretty sure they are the best value out there as well.

If Dan is worried about trajectory, maybe you need a different jig, that is a heck of a helical. the smaller the shaft it seems the more exaggerated that is. the more helical the more down range it will drop due to friction in the air. I wonder if a couple degree offset would be best (especially if you are shooting out of a tuned bow).

I have to say I am super impressed with these shafts and I will continue to use their product. Only question I have Dan is Corey cut an entire inch off of the X-Impact to get the overall length of your arrow to be close to what you were before with the RIP TKO due to the length of their outsert. Weren't you concerned that by cutting that inch off increased the dynamic spine of the arrow? Would have been cool to see the difference in paper with the initial cut length vs the other with 1" cut off and how your vertical tear changed. I have their Deep Impact arrows, great arrows but I HATE having to sand the front inch or so of the shaft to get their outsert to fit...this is why I run a different half out on those shafts. Love the ABT vids!! Looks like you mess with different arrows as much as I do....lol

Great vids fellas!! Keep these ABT vids coming in the off season. Personally, I think your victory rip arrow is better than the x-impact build. I’m a .166 vap TKO arrow shooter but avoid setups that have a lot of over hang of an outsert due to fails and bending. The Valkyrie system is the best I have seen to pair with a .166 arrow to avoid that big overhang of an outsert. Can’t wait to see your testing vids next.

@HuntsT3 жыл бұрын
Dynamic spine alignment can only be determined when shot. How that arrow reacts with the force from your bow cannot be predetermined. Look up knock tuning by tim gillingham. It definitely takes time and sometimes head scratching, but I definitely have more consistent flights especially with fixed blade heads at longer distances. In saying that, victory arrows are by far the best made arrows as far as quality. Black Eagles are ok, but seem to be brittle in a high speed/energy setup.
