Barbara knew how the puzzle worked. She understood that the food is most accessible when the tube is tilted. She just didnt do it in the way that was expected. Kudos to her, too. It looked way harder trying to do it with paws. As for why she went for the puzzle as opposed to the plate of food, she could had just not felt like eating with Jade or maybe she genuinely preferred the puzzle over just getting fed.

My Yorkie does the same as Jade. He gets a bite of his food from the bowl, walks over to the couch and jumps on, chews his food and goes back to the bowl. He does that a few times until he's full.

I bought my cat a puzzle box meant for small dogs. It was the highest difficulty level available (level 3), but I had faith she didn't need to go through the lower levels. She solved it in almost no time! 😂 I found out later that the exact same design IS available for cats, but they don't need to categorize them by levels for cats... 😹 (Don't worry, I love dogs too!)
