Testing a self-3D printed Dendrometer for stand basal area estimation

For the establishment of Bitterlich plots we need an angle gauge. A simple alternative to the Mirror Relascope is a Dendrometer or any other simple gauge that defines the fixed opening angles for different basal area factors. Here I test a self 3D printed Dendrometer. Works fine! At the end it is mainly about the border trees that need to be checked, for the many other trees that are clearly IN or OUT, very simple tools are enough.

Hello, please could you let me know if it be possible to provide dimensions of the device? I am hoping to cut and file one out of steel plate and as I have no reference this is a challenge.

@@TC-th1ey The relations between the width of the counting plates and distance (from eye) are: Counting factor 1 = 1:50 Counting factor 2 = 1:35,4 Counting factor 4 = 1:25 If you decide to use a distance from eye of 50 cm (like the Dendrometer), the respective formula can be simplified: the width of the counting plate (in cm) can be calculated as sqrt(counting factor). Example: for counting factor two this results in 1.414 cm (for 1 in 1cm and for 4 in 2cm). Wir selber verkaufen leider keine gedrucken Exemplare, mit dieser Datei sollte es aber möglich sein einen Ausdruck in einem online 3D Printshop zu bestellen. Wir übernehmen jedoch keine Verantwortung für die Qualität eines Ausdrucks.
