I had the stumble in my car and fought and fought it. Messed with the carb a bunch and finally checked the vacuum advance. It needed replacing but it was not leaking. That was the problem no advance. You may have already checked it but thought I would suggest it anyway. Good luck.

I agree with others on your advance adjustments . Interestingly enough , most go for the carburetor as the problem . However most often the igition system is where you need to look . Example is a weak ign coil and or weak spark , and your timing advance . Most definitely carb stumbles can be an advance problem . Always go to the ignition system before tearing into a carb for drivability problems . Nice video

I like the channel, the content, and Lee and crew, etc... I didn't like the "no loyalty to any country since it's all imported" comment/thinking. The US does a lot of business in Canada, and Lots of Jobs there at American companies. Let's also see how much China, England or whoever has Canada's back if they ever get attacked or invaded.. Just my $ .02 as a US born and raised with lots of Canadian friends including my wife from Ontario..

Hi Lee , Shannon and Lux . Wow ... a new carb and a successful test drive . Thanks for the B C road adventure . Got to cruise to a car show yesterday there was a band there that played played Patsy Cline songs. It was the 20 th anniversary show, well worth the cause and a great reason to be there at 6 am to help out til it was over. About your newest Canadian Hotrods Magazine article ... instead of hearing when are you going to paint your car or the worst one a year ago ... maybe it will hail and you can can get a free paint job . A friend I've known for a millions years said when ARE WE going to paint your . I said no It's fine the way it is . His answer was it deserves better , I was going to tell you about getting classic plates too, but then you can't drive it to work almost every day . Guess he answered that question . He's a great person and has painted many , many 5 6 7 Chevys . Who knows ... but IT's fine with me for now !

Vacuum break in distributor set to tight, not letting wights fully advance, a distributor machine would solve problems, Motors manual tells how to adjust in car by accelerating from idle in third gear and adjusting till just a hint of spark knock the backing off adjustment till knock just dissappears.

Regarding the stumble, could it be a vacuum advance sticking, seems like advance at idle makes for a good strong idle and possibly a smoother transition from idle to midrange rpm
@LGKustoms
@LGKustoms 11 ай бұрын
Maybe? It didn’t do it with the old carburetor though. Once it gets a bit of heat in it, it’s fine. By the second stop sign the stumble is completely gone.

Lee interesting video thankyou. I run the same plugs in my 48 and always will. Is yours a US spec or Canadian Ford? Looking at your hood ornament and heads it looks US spec. The vacuum port in the carb would be for ported vacuum, which would be used on a distributor with a vacuum diaphragm, such as used on 8BA engines. While I'm at it, 17.58 Liters divided by 4.54609 gives you 3.867 Imperial gallons or 18.1 Miles Per proper Gallon. It looks like you used that silly short measure US Gallon which is only a paltry 3.78 Liters. So there you go, a 20% improvement over your own erroneous calculation. Win win.
