One of those items, like a bulletproof vest where you just have to take the word of the manufacturer. No need to fully test on oneself. Always impressed at how these work and hope to never have to prove it out.

Appreciate you guys taking the time to test these. I never knew they were that effective! So that is why I never wear them when I am running the saw. This video has changed my mind I am definitely going to get myself and my dad a pair. Thanks again!

Good morning Brock. Great video. I purchased a pair of Stihl chaps a few years ago when I was cutting in the woods. They were brand new when my father and I took down about a 30 inch diameter tree that about 5 feet from the neighbor ladies house (along with two other maybe 24 inch trees). She wanted various height stumps left 2' to 4' so she could put lawn ornaments on them. Well foolishly I leaned forward to cut a sucker off the stump with my Stihl ms362 about half throttle and it kicked back and nicked my chaps. Stopped the chain immediately. The take away though is I don't remember anything that looked like pillowy cotton; it was all strands (cords). I was glad I had them and they saved me a few stitches. I just didn't remember seeing fluffy stuff come out and get wrapped in the chain.

I believe they are strands, just a whole bunch of really tiny ones.

Nicely done guys! Reassuring to know they aren't just for making you look good 🤣 Thanks for making it interesting instead of the same old dry manufacturer's videos. Safety first! Too many people take if for granted that it won't happen to them. I have a pair but I don't know that they make me look as good as they do on Brock! 🤠

it was tony's saw andI didn't look too closely. I think it was a standard chain

its about bar length, if you contact the chaps with the tip of a 28 inch bar you will see a greater chance of cut through than you would if you contact the chaps with the tip of a 16 inch bar, the chain wont bind up till the fibers jam up the clutch, so until those fibers reach the clutch that saw is still pulling teeth across what ever is in its path

I wear Pfanner Gladiator chainsaw pants, they are good for one other thing.... four days ago, I got hit in the leg by a Copperhead snake. No fangs reached my shin. Lets just say, that test can not be duplicated.....with that snake.

Why most of the KZbin "experts" doing the show and tell do not use PPE with chaps ? Butt, they are the experts ?
