The lid remover is good for people who have difficulty gripping lids. They may be able to grasp a handle much easier then a lid. My own grip is compromised due to physical injury and I can tell you that ANYTHING to help a person grip a jar and a lid is amazing. You still need the strength to twist but the actual gripping is what is helped. I've seen and used many items from like what you tried to a simple thin sheet of rubber and all of them have helped far more than you could imagine.

Exactly! This particular one might be low quality, but the type of grip needed for that handle is MUCH easier to bring to bear than grabbing larger jars. The twisting strength isn’t the issue, it’s the grip. Although if you need more twist you could easily add a lever extension to that tool handle.

Or even if it's just really stuck on there. Like a jar of jelly and some jelly got between lid and jar and it's been a while since you've last used it so it's somewhat glued on. If the lid is on there good enough your hand just starts slipping.

That jar opener totally works, I bought that exactly same opener to my parents, they never got any jar open before and now they got no problems, its the strength in the tip of your fingers that you lose and that helps a lot for that.

I need to tell you about that "A Jar Opener" thing. I'm 53 years old. My grandmother had one handed down to her by HER grandmother. That design is older than the hills, and it works by compressing the sides it touches, while deforming the sides that it's not touching, and breaking the vacuum seal on the jar. I think the reason you believe it failed, or was more difficult to use is because of the plastic handle on the thing, and the aluminum the rest is made of. The one that's been making the rounds in my family is made of steel from top to bottom.

Exactly people forget the vacuum seal is what keeps opening the jars the first time difficult. They can be on really tight and I've seen some straight out ridiculous lids that no person could have come up with(completely round with no groves). Sometimes it's a real battle to open a jar. I can see older people having issues for sure or if you have a really weak grip.

I use those things to hang framed art and mirrors in my house all the time they are great! Nothing that's 150 lbs but they're plenty sturdy and super easy to use. The brand I use is called monkey hook. It might be a better quality steel than the ones Tyler was using.

I have a jar opener similar to that, it really helps. I've got a fused wrist and limited function in my hand and can't properly grip things. It's a lot easier to grab a handle than lids. Jars are nearly impossible to open otherwise.

The small pry bar jar opener works well. It pulls up on the edge of the lid breaking the vacuum seal. After that the lid screw right off. My mother was amazed.

I used to manage an art framing store and we sold those types of hooks, they worked pretty well, though I never had anyone looking to do 150lbs, and I would’ve sold them something else. But one thing I can think of, very large frames we hang with two hooks from each side of the frame instead of from the center with the wire, because the weight pulls at the corners of the frame and creates gaps where the 45 degree is joined. And also any heavy piece would be wide enough that you would hang from the sides instead of the center just for ease of reach. So, you would use two hooks, and also the weight distribution is changed at that point. May or may not change the outcome.

5:37: There are two problems with pickle jars, the first thing is that the large lid requires you to distribute your strength across a wider area, and the other thing is that the suction created during the canning process holds the lid in place more tightly than the threads of the lid alone. The device you were demonstrating looks like it has ways to address both of those problems, by pinching the lid inwards you can break the vacuum seal that's holding the jar lid in place, and while the handle does require the same amount of force, it also allows the user to concentrate that force with a (theoretically) better grip. At least I think that's what's going on; squeeze the jar lid, break the seal, use the grip and the handle for better leverage.

The fishie wiggle can opener works and is great for elderly people who can't use a crank can opener. But so does an electric can opener. My mom had one she loved it. I had one and it didn't last that long. About 6 to 8 months then the batteries die and you forget about it.

in the original demonstration for the hercules hook, there were 3 50lb weights mounted on a rack that was supported by 3 hercules hooks. it seems that each hook can individually bear about 50lbs because the weight is evenly distributed, the wall and hooks can support the weight. there's probably just an advertising loophole for the claim that they can support 150lbs, because technically they dont claim that a SINGLE hook can support that much weight: just that it's possible for the product to do that

i have a neck illow with a hood that I actually really like. its not a stupid inflatable one. but it works for me because the hood pulls down over my eyes to block out light (which if you are not wearing a hat, does come down more over the eyes). of course, mine has black cat ears on it, but hey, i like silly cutesy things lol i also have an automatic can opener. i have bad hands and cant really use a crack one. they are very helpful but ungodley loud

Tyler... The can opener worked perfectly both times... It's not cutting anything, it's squeezing the seal that was folded to separate the lid from the barrel of the can. You also don't need to be afraid of cutting yourself, there are no sharp edges. On the second can you just needed to pull a bit more to get the lid off.

Neither of those things are true. Those can openers cut below the fold rather than cut into the lid. They're less likely to cut you because you can handle the lid by the outer perimeter, but it's still sharp on the can and the underside of the lid.

I have 2 of the hood pillows although mine are foam bean filled.. and we used them on flights and military field missions. The hood being attached to the pillow surprisingly works when you lay you head anywhere

Those hooks work great for pictures they leave small, easy to fix holes. I only used them for pictures. Maybe they tested them on double 5/8 sheetrock.

those hooks DO work:the main issue is the 150 Lb rating is inflated-they will not do well at that level-yes thicker sheetrock will help, but since the metal will bend, 150 lbs seems unlikely. Still useful in a pinch for fairly light items, and the tiny hole(and no tools required for installation)are pluses for this item.

For jar issue with lids. If you got a jar and can't open it , take a butter knife or something safe and push it between lid lip area and jar . All you doing is breaking the air seal , Top of lid sometimes pop up when done right .So don't freak out , lid should be easy to get off now .

I've had a hoodie pillow for travel for over a decade and they're great. The hood is both an eye mask and a hood that's good against random drafts and for leaning against windows, all while not having to wear a whole hoodie as it's usually too warm for it. Also, I prefer being able to secure a neck pillow but the ones that do up at the front feel like I'm being weakly choked but when you tie up the hoodie pillow with the draw string you can leave it kinda loose and the hood helps hold it in place. Other misc side benefits are that it can do things like hold those tiny plane travel pillows and if you don't inflate the neck pillow portion you can tuck it under any shirt or jacket and use it as a hood (works okay under jackets, looks silly just on a shirt).
