The last thing I did is I added some strips from stabilizer foam into the plates that come in contact with silicon nubs (still stiff but the removable of the silicone dampener actually added some more flex). Tbh I really should have just gotten other stabs for this board. I took apart this board and put it back together more times than I want to admit just to fix my backspace. The tape mod is probably my favourite, depending on the board it brings out a unique sound. The rest of the mods are also really interesting but honestly I do kinda like a muted board sometimes. The rest of my small collection all have very distinct sounds, sometimes with no or barely any foam inside. So I guess for me it's just another unique thing about this one. is the holee mod worth it? A lot of people in discord have been strongly against it saying that it is too mushy, and is a gimmick that youtube creators overhyped. They said lube and balancing is all you need.
@coleydotmp4 Жыл бұрын
Holee mod will break in overtime. it will definitely feel mushy at first. especially if you put in too much material to the stems. If you're using a better stab than the durocks or the KBD stabs from this video, you probably just need to do a solid job lubing and tuning. I've found that the durocks take well to a holee mod once the mod is broken in. But you wouldnt need to do it on a TX stab, for example. it would be overkill. Overhyped? not when everyone was using durocks and cherry stabs. But these days, if you have a higher end stab, youll be fine with just lube. Hope that helps!

I think people dont give enough credit to gaskets for helping the sound. If you're on a board like the mr suit or the ikki68 aurora, then yeah the gaskets influence the typing feel because of all the flex cuts. Is your foam too thick? that might make it difficult. Whats the issue?
@krystall9953 жыл бұрын
@@coleydotmp4 It should be around 1.5mm thick. Maybe yours is thinner than mine. Do you have any foam recommendations? Anyway, did you use silicone dampener too? Maybe that's why I cannot make it. I'm trying to make the PE foam mod while still using silicone dampener
@coleydotmp43 жыл бұрын
@@krystall995 I'm not sure the size of mine. It came as packaging to an old keychron k4. I do not have it with the silicone dampener, but you should be ok to have both. What is the issue though? Are the switches not actuating?
@krystall9953 жыл бұрын
@@coleydotmp4 yes. The switches cannot be fully place on the pcb, because there's too much space between pcb and plate, since there's silicone dampener and pe foam that make too much thickness. Now, I'll try to make the mod without silicone dampener

you could try holee mod - that might help eliminate rattle for a longer period of time than just jamming a ton of thick lube where the wire ends sit.
@coleydotmp43 жыл бұрын
my issue was the rattle would come back on those stock stabs after using them for a short period of time, regardless of how much i put in.

How painful is the modding
@coleydotmp43 жыл бұрын
Haha its actually not bad at all. What was painful was me having to go back and keep adding more because i knew it could be pushed further - probably took the thing apart and put it together 6 times haha

@@coleydotmp4 Actually the worse part in modding a keyboard is screwing and unscrewing... It's so frustrating
