So relieved to know that the pee strips aren't accurate now that I've been in ketosis for so long. I've been eating less than 25 total carbs for the last 3 months and couldn't figure out why my pee strips weren't showing ketones consistently anymore!

Good explanation of each different type. I was thinking it looked like breathalyzer, not as easy to use as you think.

Hi @2crazyketos ! I was wondering if you still recommend the same ketone tracking system that you did 2 years ago. I'm about 7 months in / 45 lbs down and ready to level up my keto game. Pee strips just don't offer enough real data. Thanks!

I had two ketoscan breath meters. One meter read 10 PPM and the other 23 PPM. Ultimately, I returned both of them for a refund.

I know you mentioned different results between blood and ketoscan, but have you noticed if they show similar trends? I.e., different numbers but they trend up or down similarly over time?
@2krazyketos4 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. It's just the numbers dont mean the same thing

Do any meters distinguish between ketosis and just indicating you've had a whiskey?
@schleimaguy3 жыл бұрын
Hi folks, i'm a french guy and really enjoyed the video which made me buy a Ketoscan mini to test our breath my wife and I. The device seems to be fairly reliable. we've been on keto for a little over two weeks under 40g carbs/day. My wife's numbers don't really go above 4 or 5 which is fairly low. However mine have been steadily increasing (up to 25ppm one morning before any food intake). I'm normally in the 8 to 15 range when doing 3 tests a day: very high in morning 12-15, middle in the afternoon around 8 and then up again to 10-12 before dinner). Is this ok and how to back down if numbers get too high, i don't want to get near the 40ppm limit, just eat a little more carbs during the day I guess ?. As an aside I don't want to lose weight, just strengthen my muscles for team sport (volleyball) and reduce inflammations. keep up the good work
@annfraley70833 жыл бұрын
Someone should have answered this by now. This device measures the off-gas or byproduct of burning ketones. Acetone - like nail polish remover. It doesn't measure ketones circulating in your blood. You would need a blood tester to have any idea whether you are reaching dangerous levels of ketones. But assuming neither of you are T1 diabetics or eating zero carbs while taking T2 meds which actively lower glucose, you couldn't induce ketoacidosis if you tried. Enjoy your meter and your keto diet.

2krazyketos tkx for the detailed video. I do want to bring up the fact however that if you are a multiple user per day or/and you have another multiple user in your family (say twice a day times 2 people) then that 300 uses comes up really fast. It can be as fast as 2 months and a bit at which point you send it back for recalibration for $30 and this can easily occur 4 times a year in a family where two people are using it and both check their status twice a day! Twice a day is not even that much! So if you do the math that's $150 ( for the device) plus the 120 (4 times sensor recalib.per year) in your first year. That's $ 270!!!! Granted that's not as much as the blood testers and you are perfectly right about that. And there's a lot to like about this meter especially the app it comes with. But just to be fair, it's not the cheapest breath meter out there because of the continual recalibration costs. (the company who came up with this is pretty smart about that move, I'll have to give it to them! ) I hope my comments were not rude or anything as it wasn't my intention, I just wanted to shed a light on some costs that may occur for some people such as my family where we are both on KETO with the average of 2 uses/per day/per person. I hope it helped.
@2krazyketos4 жыл бұрын
You are correct, but as we said, it’s cheaper than blood testing. As far as other meters, there are a couple, like the Ketonix, however any good breath meter needs to be recalibrated. The cheap ones you see on amazon are not accurate. Breath meters pick up everything in the air and what you breath, which is why the need to be calibrated. The same thing goes for police alcohol breathalyzer . That’s why they Have to keep detailed records for the calibration always people can challenge the results in court. .
@planetina5616 Жыл бұрын
Heads up in case you're still interested, there's a device called Keyto which calibrates to the air around you before each use so never needs to be sent back for calibration, the upfront cost is $100 and is apparently as accurate as ketomojo

Enticing video, but I dont have 30 minutes to find out the pros/cons. Can you condense this to 8 minutes? I never watch anything educational over 12 minutes. If it cant be consolidated to that, my thought always is I am going to have to listen to someone babble just for 3 bits of key info. Not worth my time.
@2krazyketos3 жыл бұрын
Sorry you don't like our style. I Many of our videos have shortened over the years but some things take longer then 8-12 minutes to explain, especially this topic. If you only want 8-10 minute videos, we probably aren't the channel for you

This kind of comments really bug me. Are you that narcissistic that you think they will re-release. A video shorter just for you? Because you’re So Very Important 🙄🙄 Here’s a tip. The first 5 min are just an intro, the last 5 are a sign off. Take the middle part and watch on 2X speed. There- I just made it 7,30 minutes. No whining or editing necessary

uhh first of all when you inhale that air travels into your lungs, so explain to me how your blowing out the same air you inhaled ? :)
@2krazyketos Жыл бұрын
you are trying to get the air in the bottom of your lungs. It works just like a police breathalyzer
@Jill_K_S Жыл бұрын
As a respiratory therapist speaking, the first appropriate 1/3 of your breath is dead space. They are correct. To get down to the alveolar level in your lung, you do want the second portion of your breath to be measured. Pulmonary function test use this technology.
