Awesome results! 🔥 Using a fiber or flap disc followed by the Scotch-Brite™ Precision Surface Conditioning product lineup is a winning combo.

I made this anvil using previous version about scotch brite finishing wheels. Finished result was really satisfying. These new ones are even better, that's awesome! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKm1XqaIe6atj9k

I don't find much use for flap discs other than rounding corners or smothing out sharp edges. They are almost impossible to control on a big flat surface. When sing it to remove a weld you might end up removing material around the weld aswell. I don't know what they are called in English but I use the "changeable sand paper discs" which attaches to a plastic support disc. They are cheaper are more versatile in my optinion. This Scotch-Brite stuff is interresting though.

You are absolutely right. Flap disc makes a groove next to the removed weld. We have used papers, same way than you, at my workplace before these. These are nearly similar to use, but these don't have sharp edge like papers. One can start sanding from the middle of workpiece and get smooth joining without " tricks ". Also, these lasts longer than papers and you can skip some grades and still get good result. I don't think that these are replacements for anything, but a very good alternative. In some cases, most likely best option, allthought, there's always other options too.

How long do they last compared to a flap wheel?
2 жыл бұрын
It depends.. If there's sharp edges, and you grind wheel rotating against it. Its just as weak as flap wheel, sharp edges can cut them both. But when you grind wheel running " behind " the edge. Then it lasts very well, even with the sharp edges.
