Always play with gearing! It's easier on the clutch and NO engine modifications equates to adding teeth will do. This is great stuff MIKE! I'm stoked for you BRO! Shout out to JUSTIN for all his help and the use of his shop and porting tool.

Bro first of all I like you man you seem super cool. And I am really getting a kick bbn of watching you learm 2 strokes. Buuut, as an old 2 stroke guy and Little Sahara regular, I have some feedback: 1. You were short shifting sturgill's shit like a lil Beeya Beeya (lol) kidding 2. You must experiment with richer jetting. Since a lean main jet is what seized er up in Michigan, you need to definitely go up on the main jet until it starts to miss and go back down one size. That's your main jet size for that elevation. Be prepared to test jetting again in Waynoka. Bring extra jets. Put a carb tuning kit together for each of your quads 3. Check out some of the KZbin videos on 2 stroke jetting. Your pilot, needle, and clip position work together and are crucial and it's easy once you wrap your head around the concept. Not giving you a hard time the patriot is definitely shittin and gittin...you just need to become a jetting master if you are going to be a 2 stroke guy and actually put hours on the R and the Banshee in different locations / elevations / temperature. Then do a a jetting video on the patriot and a jetting video in the Banshee. 4. Everyone rides at night at Little Sahara so you need lights as much candlepower as you can get and you will be doing a lot of turning so you will need v paddles not straight paddles on the rear. The razor front dunes tires make a huge difference but not necessary at all 5. And I will get off my soap box lol...I thought I saw sturgill adjusting the idle on the patriot up at the twist throttle. You actually want a little bit of play in the throttle cable same as a clutch cable. You set the idle on the carb. If it won't idle you pilot is off. Also a lean pilot will cause hard starting. Again you want to go as rich as you can. Old school 2 stroke tuners measure their engine's output output by how fat the engine can go on the main jet and still carburate crisp. The bigger the jet the more gas is going through it, same as increasing fuel injector size / cm rating on a modern V8 to match performance / air flow upgrades Thanks for all the effort and really hope my advice helps you out. I have literally gone through everything you are experiencing right now on this build and also ride the wheels off my Rs back in the day Now I am old and fat. Cant wait for the little Sahara video. Remember always be trying larger jets dont seize the banshee night riding on Oklahoma it will be chilly which of course leans out jetting

The reason Justin's quad is so much wider than yours in the front is because he has negative offset wheels. You have positive offset wheels. His is gonna feel a bit rougher in the chop. The negative offset wheels put a lot more stress on the front end components (hubs, spindles, wheel bearings, heim joints, ball joints, etc.), and you feel it in the bars. The positive offset wheels keep the centerline of the wheel closer to the steering pivot of the spindle, so you don't feel all the torque of hitting a rock like Justin will. The problem with positive offset is, you lose a little stability due to it being narrower. You guys could go with zero offset wheels, if you wanted to widen the stance of your quads, but keep in mind, you'll feel it a little more in the bars.
