Testing Keystation 49 with FL Studio

here is a very simple video with me testing the new Midi Keyboard I just installed in my little home studio, with my new custom desk drawer that I built makes it easy and quick to play when I make music and then also to hide the keyboard under the desk when not playing.
In this video I play along with a current project I started on with this new keyboard, though I am not a professional live player so don't expect advanced wizardry actions lol, hope you enjoy it anyway!

If you inside of FL studio select MIDI settings under the options tab. In the list you should see your device as keystation 49 in the output list. Under the input list you should also see it as Keystation 49. Make a change in the controller type to “M-Audio Oxygen 49/61 and also enable it. The second device is MIDIIN2 (keystation 49) This is the buttons, change this to Frontier Design AlphaTrack and enable it. You can leave the ports empty. This should make most of the buttons work in FL. You can also with FL bind a specific button or knob to a midi instrument or affect by right click and chose Link to controller and after that you press or twist the knob you want to bind to that specific action. Remember that this will override your input and it is a bit harder to undo unless you reload or make a new project so make sure you want this knobs to work with your input before you change it.

Hi! I've had some troubles with this midi keyboard in the past. Do you feel any latency? What drivers and windows version are you using?

Alberaan hi! I had no problems with latency using this keyboard. I'm using it with windows7. What you can check if you have latency with FL Studio is if you have activated Asio4all or not. If not activate asio4all to begin and see if it helps. If you still have problems you may check the audio settings in FL and adjust the buffer length and see if that helps. If you want some help changing these settings let me know and I may help you over skype or other ways

Hi again! Thanks for your reply and offering :) I tried the keyboard 4 years ago, maybe drivers have improved since then. I was using win7 and ASIO4ALL but I wasn't using FL Studio back then. I'll give it a try again in the next days and get back to you if I have any problems! Thanks again :)

do you need speakers to play the keyboard? cause I just got one but don't have speakers

Tee Will hi! You will need to have a computer to hook it up to as this is a pure Midi USB keyboard. You can then use appropriate software such as FL studio, Ableton or other daw to make the sounds. From the computer you may chose to hook up any sound source to playback the sound, Headphones or speakers

how did u set it up with fl? currently having problems with that right now. fl wont recognize it and using the generic controller doesnt work

Open up your midi settings in FL Stufio Select Keystation 49 in your input list and enable it, chose controller type: M-Audio Oxygen 49/61 as the device. Then pick the MIDIin 2 (keystation49) Enable this as well, pick the preset: Frontier Design AlphaTrack. This is for the play buttons etc. Now your keyboard should work on most inputs. Manny Singh yes this keyboard works perfectly with FL studio. It just needs to be configured correctly for the fast buttons to work. I can help you out what protocols you chose for it to work

What are your settings on midi

ProstoVasya install it as: “Keystation49” as M-Audio Oxygen 49/61. “Midiin2 (Keystation 49)” as Frontier Design AlphaTrack. It will make most of the play and pause buttons work. Remember to also activate your midi keyboard by checking the enable button on both these controllers and you are good to go. You can also on the same page in FL change the “Link note velocity to”: none if you don’t want to have variable velocity, I find this setting useful as the keyboard is not very accurate on the velocity. Or pic your other desired function in that setting tree. Happy music production!
