I wonder if they'd be any good in a metal detector ? Or would they interfere with the operating frequency ?
@J3sus1sL0rd12 жыл бұрын
I had already tried out similar 1.5 volt rechargeable lithium-ion battery on my 2 meter hand held, no interference. You're using 11 meter RC car instead of 2.4GHz. As 1.5 volt lithium-ion battery after it goes through regulator chips to stabilize from 3.7V down to 2.5V to steady 1.5 volt. It perfect for LED flashlight and laser pointer without fading light. Almost without warning; it goes from full voltage to instant dead, as you had ready have found out.

you saved me Andy! ... I love handheld CB's and have about 40 of them, many different models ( love your video's on them when you do them) I test and play with them and keep them for when the world goes crazy.... ... I have 150 AA POWEROWL batteries.... 1.2 volt NIMH rechargeable AA batteries and 5 POWEROWL chargers that charge 16 of them at a time ( I can charge 80 at once) they work great for my handheld CB's.... a whole house generator with a 1000 gallon propane tank, so I'm ready!..... but my latest handhelds are the Cobra HH 50... I like them and got a great deal on them and bought three of them..... the problem is unlike most handheld CB's these take 9 batteries whether alkaline or rechargeables .... no dummy cells or switch that regulated the voltage down....... meaning 9 times 1.5 volts = 13.5 total volts with alkaline... or 9 times 1.2 volts = 10.8 total volts with the NIMH.... on my watt meter I get 3.3 watts with alkaline and 2.1 watts with my 1.2 NIMH ... so I was researching the best 1.5 volt rechargeable to get on youtube.....and saw your video... I smiled as I have watched many of your video's and trust you ( plus I figured you might do some in a HandHeld Radio ) well I had seen some talk of RF interreference.... and now I know to stay away from them.... thanks Andy, another great helpful video.

The lithium aa batteries must have a minute buck converter in them to drop the voltage. I reckon this is causing the interference, either through the circuit or through actual radio interference.

Ive got 90 NiMH AA Batteries in my ebike. Their set up as 15 x 6 s 7.2v packs the 15 packs are wired in parallel. Each Cell is 1.2v & 1.2ah. So its a house brick sized 7.2v/18ah pack. Thats then wired in series with my 48v Li-on battery.

Hi Andy, Love the channel mate. You've got me cycling again which is great, I'm slowly getting my fitness back too. I'm struggling getting hold of a matching (fully built) 29" MTX39 front wheel to go with my rear hub kit, installed. Any link/help ect would be really appreciated mate. The bike just doesn't look right with two different rim/wheels. Thanks mate

There is a Li-ion AA size but regular 3.7v '14500' which you can combine with dummy batteries to get the voltage you need.

Although it defeats the power density advantage. Maybe blocking off contacts to have 3 in parallel instead of 3 regular batteries in series.

Andy, sometimes with those Xtar PB2S chargers/Banks if you plug the device in second it negotiates at a faster output. Plugging PB2S in last "sometimes" keeps it on a low charge rate. Its almost as if they dont negotiate the device/connection properly.

My ebike has been off the road because I need to solder in a new battery connector. I will bet it's a 3.7v to 1.5v converter causing the interference.

Andy, 5 x 1.5 = 7.5v and 2 Lithiums is about 7.4v so I bet they have designed that car so can run on a LiPo pack. You can bung one in there I'm sure!
@volodumurkalunyak465110 ай бұрын
2S Lithium-ion don't run at 7.4V. Those run at 8.4V-6.4V range. That should be fine for device that should get 5x alkaline cell (1.6V down to 1.0V) or even 5x Energizer Utilmate Lithium's (Li-FeS2 non-rechargeables, those can put out up to 1.8V each when fresh and lightly loaded).
@stewartrv10 ай бұрын
@@volodumurkalunyak4651 The nominal voltage of a Lithium-Ion cell is 3.7 volts and therefore 2S is 2 x 3.7v = 7.4 volts. Yes it will be higher just after fully charged but that is not the nominal voltage.
@volodumurkalunyak465110 ай бұрын
@@stewartrv when dealing with batteries, nominal voltage is pretty much useless number compared to actual working voltage range. 6.4-8.4V for 2S li-ion is way more informative towards designing a product or deciding battery replacement possibilities.

A bit freaky , your batteries generating Rf on the same band as the car , or harmonics close to it 😂.... I guess you could put the battery in a faraday cage to suppress the RFI ... but I expect it would pulse though the wiring anyway.... Did you scan any other bands on your Transceiver ?

I prefered the Ugreen QC3 18W wall charger to the equivalent XTAR one. SImply bc the XTAR got really hot under the same high load. The Ugreen one hardly got hot. I reckon the heat was so much it could have affected the quality of the charge. They cost about the same too.

Kind of funny, I almost bought some of those Lithium AA's for my RC car remote, which is 2.4ghz. Guessing it would have caused some issues. Ended up going with a typical 2S lipo instead.
@haraldhaporta4252 жыл бұрын
27Mhz is verry different then 2.4Ghz.. so probably not a problem for you
@olds97lss2 жыл бұрын
@@haraldhaporta425 Yep. Missed that. THought it was 2.4ghz, not older AM. Still odd that the batteries give off interference. Well... sort of odd that they give off that much anyway. Guess they would have to have some sort of rectifier circuit in them to drop the voltage down to 1.5 from lithium's typical 3-4.2v without being a heavy drain on them.
