Microsoft really is losing customer due to the lack of communication with upcoming products. Microsoft should throw us a bone to say hay we are still working on surface duo 3 and we totally didn't quietly cancel our phone division again. Lol

@@Techfanatic73 Doubt that. They'll probably lose the phone hardware and stick to software and game sales... They bought Activision/king which is the owner of candy crush... Microsoft doesn't even care about the console war or selling hardware. They would rather sell more games on all platforms then invest more money in hardware like phones.

Really "educational", thanks for this and the other videos! They convinced me to stay with my Duo 2. The SD2 does what I need better than the other real world foldables. Will there ever be an SD3?

Microsoft could easily fork their launcher to emulate the Duo on foldables and it's a software tweak to their current launcher. It's so short sighted to not even attempt this and they can focus the software to literally function as if any foldable to be a Duo device the way any x86 pc can be a Windows device. They don't even need to override Android's built in foldable functions. They just need to bring Duo functionality to Android via the launcher and make apps work the same way. How difficult would this be? Instead of detecting 2 displays to work as one, It's one display detected as 2 halves. This can even function on flip style foldables and retain Android's ability to scale the split apps if two apps are running at the same time. The launcher would just default into two halves. As for specific apps like onenote and gamepass, would this be such a drastic UI change whether it's app dependent or based on launcher parameters?

That's exactly how OneNote and Outlook work on my Fold 4, regardless of orientation. Gmail and Keep only allow dual-pane in landscape - Google isn't following their own guidelines basing the large-screen UI on viewport size rather than orientation. Meanwhile, Google Messages *does* show the dual-pane view in either orientation. Android is such a mess...

Disappointing that flex mode doesn’t trigger a Nintendo DS style with the controls on one screen and game on another. Given the Galaxy Fold has been out for a while, you’d think this functionality would exist already and would natively work on the Pixel Fold. Here’s hoping Microsoft updates their apps to do this one day!

@Shane Craig Unfortunately, I had to jump off of the Microsoft phone, when I heard there would be no Surface Duo 3! I immediately got in line to order my Samsung Galaxy S23 ULTRA, and I'm looking at the Fold 6, if this world hasn't gone to hell, yet! I will only get a Pixel phone for me and my elderly mom, kick rocks Apple! I must have a smart stylus supported device as My Daily Driver, which I have Champion the S-Pen in the Galaxy Note 4, Note 10 Plus, and now the S23 ULTRA! Samsung has kept me grounded with a business minded determination, by working well with Microsoft Office 365, Samsung Apps, and a stable Google Play Store.

I didn't check if anyone else mentioned this, but FYI, I see no ads at all in Outlook on my Pixel 7 Pro or any other device that I have used. I assume it relates to my 365 subscription. I do see adds in the Gmail app, despite being a Google One subscriber. Also Outlook has much better handling to file messages by folder, which is really important to me as I have countless folders and subfolders in my email accounts.

Does the pixel fold have a desktop mode. Something similar to dex. How does sit looks like when you connect it to a secondary screen?

It has no desktop mode and does not support video out over USB C.

The non-rotating thing wasn't an issue. App developers on Android have the option to not allow for *automatic* device rotation. Most games apps have this setting enabled so that it doesn't screw you over whilst playing a faster paced game. When this setting is enabled, a "rotate screen" button appears at one corner of the device's display when it detects a potential device rotation. If you press that button, the device orientation then rotates. You can see this icon appear at the top left corner (from the viewers perspective) at 5:55 in the video. So, this device *does* allow automatic orientation rotation successfully =D. I don't know why it automatically rotated when you put it into semi-folded mode. I think that is the true bug here, haha.

Sigh.. Microsoft is going to give up on yet another head start. Anyone remember what phones ushered in optical stabilized low light pictures (Lumia 920). Remember when everyone laughed at the camera bump on the 41 megapixel Lumia 1020? That was 10 years ago almost to the day. Now it is clear the Duo 2 is the most useful Android dual screen multitasking phone, and Microsoft is gonna fumble the ball again on the goal line. 🤦
