@marygallagher3428 I'm going to home depot to see if they sell a soft start for the machine.

@OldSchoolPrepper it's a great machine, but I'm going to get a soft start for it to try to run it with the Ecoflow. Feliz año nuevo, see the magic of the squiggly line above the N 😆.

Yummy! Love pasteles my mom was just asking for some last nite. Where did you get that pasteles machine? Also how long do solar batteries last on your current off grid setup?
@MosaicHomestead14 күн бұрын
@mamacita_nineofour I got the machine in a old hardware store, but you can go to Facebook and look up Collazo Electric, I believe it's a local Puertorican company. My batteries have a window of about a day and a half, but I don't have a normal system, I run 12v DC and 120v AC, the Pasteles machine has to be ran on grid, it needs a soft start to run on my system, the only reason I need a day and a half on batteries is because I also have wind, I generate power at night if it's windy.

@MosaicHomestead Oh ok thanks for the info do the solar batteries lifespan last a few years? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions
@MosaicHomestead13 күн бұрын
@mamacita_nineofour I'm using marine lead acid batteries they last from 4 to 6 years, Lithium batteries last longer, but are very expensive, here they have solar companies that install systems, but they work with the grid, Luma is fighting to remove the power sell back benefits, and these systems could be pricey, I built my own system about 8 years ago.

Wow 8 years that's awesome! Thank you for the information I appreciate it 🙏

Why are you using green bananas, aren't they kind of bitter? And, is a pastel sweet or salty?
@MosaicHomestead14 күн бұрын
@LibertyGarden pasteles is a Xmas traditional food made out of green banana, it's stuffed with meat and it's delicious...it's in the realm of salty not sweet, it's a calorie dense food, but the machine isn't really good for off grid, so I might correct that problem using soft start methods.
@LibertyGarden14 күн бұрын
OK got to the end. We call those tamales. Is the dough only the smashed bananas or do you add flour?
@MosaicHomestead14 күн бұрын
@LibertyGarden no flour, it's just banana, but you can add yautia, it's a root vegetable.

Trump said to Puerto Rico, "let them eat cake," and you took it literally.

@LibertyGarden A junta could cost up to $10, it's the labor that has increased the price dramatically, but I grow my own bananas 🍌 so it's actually cheap for me.
