How interesting, I have wanted to try making another cutter, yesterday I figured a thicker wire works better

Sadnessis MYlife Thank you! It would need to be long one though, I think that was for an outdoor large door. If you try it, let me know how it works!

I've been making soap for about 8 years now. I bought one of those slab cutters and quickly discovered whats wrong with them! They all have a cookie cutter approach so all of them have the same problems! They may look like they can cut different heights but it is not practical because the wire holds its shape from the previous height and continual bending in different positions will break the wire just like the way a coat hanger will break. Additionally, the wire is only as good as the hook that redirects the wire is strong. That will bend over time too. And more importantly, when I am ready to cut soap I am ready to cut soap. It cant wait and I dont have time to break out a ruler and a pair of needle nose pliers just to adjust for the height I need. They are too hard to adjust. I came up with a solution and there is another that I havent done yet because of cost but I will. Firstly, make one wall with slots so the wall can be moved in and out. This itself tightens the line. Secondly, make the walls removeable for storage by using wingnuts. Thirdly, get rid of that horrid wire and use 30 lb fishing line which is available everywhere and much easier to use and cuts cleaner. Using these steps, a height adjustment from one height to another can be made in about 45 seconds! I am not looking for subscribers but check out what my prototype does. Its just a 20 second video but the concept does work and I dont have a problem with bars that look funny any more. The video is called "They say fishing line cant cut soap"

Thank you for your feedback, I did check out the video, very interesting because I had read that about fishing line but your results prove different, definitely worth a try

@@SoapsbyGlenda Thanks for the compliment. That was my prototype model and is the one I use but I made 4 more that are much nicer. It really is fun to use and much simpler with no worries. I used it again yesterday. Changing height and changing line both can be done in about 45 seconds. You simply cant do that with the current popular design. Oh yeah, 30 lb fishing line works best. Anything less will break. Anything more is harder to tie.
