From an aesthetics perspective, my favorite is #5. There's something about the simplicity of the form (in contrast to the thought and effort that went into making it) that appeals to me. From a practical point of view, however, there's no actual rim to prevent things from sliding off the edge. From that standpoint, I prefer #4; again, it's "simple," yet elegant, and the steps at the edge are more shallow than those of #8. They're all amazing, though!

i like 3 the most. i often dislike how easy it is for drippings and excess crumbs to slip off the side of plates with flatter or curved edges. it also makes it harder to scrape up the last little bits of a meal because they end up tumbling off the side. wouldn't have a problem with this one! also, i really enjoyed hearing the rain. rain is my favorite weather and it made me feel very cozy and present within your studio. ❤

Wow, I really was not sure about a lot of these plates, but of course under your delicate touch and refined eye they're really shaping up to be stunners! I think my favourites right now are 1 and 6. 1 reminds me a lot of a Yo-Yo, 6 just has this perfect balance of clean design and visual interest while being unlike anything I have seen before in plates. I really look forward to how your glaze will behave on that one.

Dear Florian, While watching you trimming the 3rd plate I thought it would be interesting to have a plate you could turn around and use it as a flat as well as a deep plate. Maybe that could be an interesting idea, even though there might be a challenge with glazing. I am curious with what kind of shapes you would come up with. Blessings from Germany

5 - that airy feel, beautyful! - I have very flat plates myself (machine made and not even close to that soaring feel) and it was a bit of a struggle to learn how to keep the food on but nowadays only our guests complain :). Peas are a hassle though:D

Wow! They are all beautiful! I think my favourites are the ones with the most minimalist upper surface and the one with the v-shaped sides (that match the other taller pots). One thing I noted, though, that you might not have thought of from a functional point of view, is that if you use these as part of a larger dinner setting there is no room for cutlery to sit in underneath the rim. This means that each place setting would take up a large amount of space. I totally realise that you might not care about that at all - it was just something that occurred to me that might limit the usefulness of the pieces, or that I can see being somewhat annoying if someone wanted to use their special Gadsby dinnerware for a dinner party. Just a thought!

Just watched your video on firing the pink clay. Might I make a selfish request, would it be a lot of trouble when you fill up your massive gas kiln, to reserve a small percentage, maybe one of everything, to fire in your electric kiln at cone 6. This would mean that thousands of your fans would see you doing something that might be achievable by them, as, like me, most people only have a small electric kiln. At age 70, I find I watch videos which will give me tips for how I work to try help me save time in my learning as I look at my expected lifespan I seek to find a few short cuts to help me on my way. I just wish I had started younger and had more time available to me to experiment. x

Of course, rounded pots can have a great deal of interest and personality, as Bernard Leach demonstrated aptly, to give just one example. For me, when I want hard edges and angularity, I prefer metal and wood as the medium.

The most favorite of the plates you made, are in order of preference, 1, 3 and 7. #1 is my favorite. I currently have a set of stoneware plates and while the small plates are okay, the large ones drive me insane! they have a pretty severe slope towards the middle, which is something I do not like, since I am a person who LOVES gravy and sauces in their cooking, and a plate with a steep slope in them causes the any liquids to leave the food and gather in the middle of the plate. they also have a relatively small foot, and because I am a meat eater, I need to often use a knife for cutting portions from my meal and the plate is really unstable due to its small foot and will cause the plate to tip quite a ways off of center because of the small foot and the high lifted sides of the plate which can cause a real mess if your plate has a lot of liquids of anymore in it. so I have obviously shosen the plates with the high side walls and large foot, to the point of being almost the same size as the plate. and because I enjoy stews as well, a walled plate is of particular value to me. so I really love the designs of the walled plates the most in your designs. and I am very much interested in the sharp angles of your plates with walls as well as the bowls, but unfortunately your bowls are terribly ill equipped to be used in everyday life because of the absolutely Tiny feet they have and how high they stand, if they were a bit wider and lower with a larger foot, I would be very much interested in buying a complete set from you. but as they stand naw, I would not order them. but the plates, are very appealing to me, just as long as both are identical, and only differ in size. Cups are certainly great only simply too small for my liking. The angeled cups/tumblers that are part of the same design are also appealing, but an option to have larger cups/tumblers would so be more appealing as well. since when it comes to liquids like tea, water and milk, I am most decidedly a lush. and I prefer larger vessels for drinking. As always, keep up the fantastic work! I wish I had enough space to have my own studio, and develop my pottery talent more, but alas, that is nothing more than a pipe-dream for me. I live on a very limited, fixed income and cannot afford a larger space that could include a studio, unless I were to find a relatively remote industrial building that I could convert to a loft and studio combination, that way I could then begin the journey I have wanted for a few decades now.

I love your work and I'm not asking you to change anything you're doing (I'll never be able to buy something you're making as they are too expensive for my budget and get sold out instantly), but to me a plate that big is just a plate, not a side plate. Your hands seem medium, like mine (medium latex gloves fit me perfectly, for reference). I've never been able to lay my hands flat on any side plates I've owned. This is not important for a collection but it is important for food portioning.

Random question, I know tiles have a bad habit of warping like crazy when not done correctly. Can this be fixed by either slip casting them or centering a hump of clay, cut it off the hump a little thick, then trim them down to size, maybe keeping them circular? I think I like 3 and 6 the most of this round.
