Nile Rodgers saying "I wish I were a great genius like John Coltrane" - I think Nile's genius status is well cemented, he's a legend
@Hitsko15 сағат бұрын
coltrane is a whole other level of genius
@py_a_thon11 сағат бұрын
Due to the viruosity of some musicians, even the most skilled of legends are always like "I ain't no Jimi Hendrix or Mozart". Staying humble is usually what allows them to constantly progress to higher skill levels as opposed to stagnating in skill and resting upon their laurels.

@@basehead617Nile is very confident in his achievements. The dance floor and the charts don't lie. I wish he'd gotten a chance here to credit his partner in Chic, Bernard Edwards. And listen to "Savoir Faire," "So Fine," and "In Dream." As amazing as his riffs and production are, his rare lead guitar solos are 🔥.

I read that the only reason why the critics were often 'negative' towards 'Ring my Bell' was it's 'suggestivness'
@cgueiros3 күн бұрын
According to ChatGPT: What Critics Said at the Time: Praise for Its Catchiness: Many reviewers highlighted the song's infectious groove, simple yet effective lyrics, and Anita Ward’s sweet, high-pitched vocals. The track was seen as a perfect fit for the disco era, with its electronic production and danceable beat. Divided Opinions on Artistic Merit: While some praised the song’s polished production (courtesy of producer Frederick Knight), others felt it was formulaic and relied too much on the disco trend rather than offering something innovative. Controversy Over Lyrics: Some critics and listeners interpreted the song as sexually suggestive, though Ward and Knight insisted it was originally written as an innocent tune about teenage love. Comparison to Other Disco Hits: Some critics noted that Ring My Bell lacked the depth and sophistication of disco hits by artists like Donna Summer and Chic. However, others appreciated its fun, lighthearted appeal. (A few reviewers noted that Ward's vocal delivery was somewhat restrained compared to other disco divas of the time, such as Donna Summer or Gloria Gaynor.)
