Testing Nilight LED Light Bars as a Chase Light on the Subaru Outback Wilderness

Hi everyone,
I am going to test out Nilight Flashing LED Light Bars to see if I can use it as a Chase Light during off-roading.
The light bar can be easily mounted on the car with 7 strong magnets and is easy to power with a DC power plug.

Hahaha. Awesome but once you said that your wife was asking if they were tow truck lights, I chuckled and had to agree to some extent. Knight Rider mode is a must. Hope you are having a great start to 2024

I got one too with blue and red lights. I put it on in sketchy areas to imitate a police light in case of EMERGENCY situations only! I’ve never had to switch it on but if someone ever tries breaking in while I’m sleeping, it will give me a second to get my bearings and hopefully scare them off!

Is there a particular pattern one should display in case of emergency? Maybe you can take the cord down trunk to the power supply in the back.

I think it could bolt to the underside of a roof rack for a third mounting solution.

I could of but like I said, I didn't to come up with complicating mounting solution and wanted to be temporary thing.

Just be aware that in some states, imitating emergency vehicles and directing traffic can both be a misdemeanor offense.

I didn't know that. I thought it would be much safer if I had these on in an emergency situation to warn of oncoming traffic rather than just the hazards. thanks for pointing it out!

When people see amber they usually think "caution". Just like your hazard flashers are amber. I have an all amber warning bar on the headliner at the front and back glass for the same reason as you @@ChasingAdventuresCO. I think cops or other people would be happy to see an amber bar than just some small hazard lights that don't stand out.

because The front of your vehicle isn’t the only place where you need excellent visibility while off-roading. The rear of the car is equally important, especially when you're wheeling with your group. The chase light is an essential part of the rear illumination. Mounting at the rear of your vehicle to increase the rear light output, especially add visibility in harsh weather conditions so that your vehicle can be seen by the groups behind you. No matter exploring a forest trail in heavy fog, or kicking up some heavy dust at the dunes, chase lights are always ready to penetrate the dust & fog to provide sufficient rear illumination for you. Simultaneously it's much easier for those behind you to control the car distance so they can slow down to avoid a collision or speed up to be not left far behind. Besides, some of the most common and dangerous risks to off-roading result from extreme & changeable weather. In some harsh foggy, snowy, or rainy days, chase lights play a similar role as the front fog lights, drastically improving the rear lights output to ensure your safety from avoiding rear-end collisions.

In general the light is cool but for what purpose on an outdoor vehicle??? Light them when you camping off grid ?? Makes absolute no sense for me. Not everything whats available is necessary to put on your vehicle, or do you light a disco at the firepit while camping? I really don't see any use for this while camping off the grid. Or do you you do towing now? Sorry, here you didn't get me.

Thanks for your answer. I totally disagree here. I think the visibility is far enough with regular taillights for circumstances our Subaru Wilderness vehicles can be used. No group member will miss you without these tow truck lights. They will more or less hate you for the disturbance. And that's my personal experience. Its maybe a want but no need. A lightbar on the roof on top of the windshield would make more sense, I don't see this here. Visibility for following vehicles is sufficient without this. Thanks.

@hanskohl6559 well everyone has their own opinion but when I was in a group and following the car ahead of me who had a Chase Light, I appreciate it because I could see anything with all the dust he was leaving behind.

@hanskohl6559 and I also have a light bar on the front of the car, and I don't recommend it. It actually decrease the visibility in the fog or dusty situations and I explain that in my Auxbeam LED light review so you are more than welcome to take a look at thar video and disagree if you want~
