Very cool video! In fact, my family and I just got home today from our trip. I loaded up my RAV and all 4 of us headed out to camp at Diamond Lake in Oregon for two nights and went to Crater Lake as well. From there, we packed up and went to Redmond, OR and stayed at a KOA (not my ideal site but it was for the kids, considering this was their first camping experience). We planned on staying in a tent there but there was a nasty wind storm and my youngest wasn't feeling good so we managed to get a cabin for the last two nights of the trip. Like you said in this video "compromise makes everyone's life better. Including your own." And that proved to be true. The kids had a blast and that's what matters in my opinion. Side note: the day we left Diamond Lake...that night there were lightning strikes pretty close to the loop that we stayed at, which started fires and they Level 3 Evac'd the ENTIRE campground. Glad we left when we did. Anyhow...love the video and glad you like the scenery here in Oregon! Cheers!

A few years back, my partner insisted we rent a small off-road trailer for a late-fall hot springs tour through Oregon and Nevada. She wanted something with a real bed that would be cozy and for when or if the weather was too much for being outside. We rented the trailer, and off we went. We went from Portland to Summer Lake Hot Springs, stayed one night, and made our way to Nevada the next day. Camped one night and left the next morning for our next hot springs destination. Loved it so much there, we decided to stay a second night. We were the only ones there. The feeling of being so remote and so alone for the entire day and evening was a feeling of belonging. Due to that experience, we decided not to go to the next destination on our list and instead headed straight to Hart Mountain, which we LOVE to spend two nights there before heading to the Alvord. We arrived at Hart Mountain and again, no one was there. On the morning after the second evening, we made the decision to blow off the Alvord and stay a third night. It was one of our favorite trips ever because instead of always making miles, we became intimate with the landscape surrounding our favorite places. We now own a Teardrops NW off-road trailer, and our style of camping is to get there and stay put for a few. The trailer has not stopped us from getting to any of the places we enjoy visiting. We've taken into some of the most rugged and remote places with no problems and enjoyed the benefits of a cozy bed and a decent kitchen. We leave the trailer behind during the day and explore these areas, and we've discovered some new and amazing secret spots because we had the time to do so.

How are you guys camp in this video minus the trailers, is exactly how my wife and I go out and explore. Some days it’s out on the trails, and sometimes it’s out at campground and then we do at least one hotel on the way to where we’re going and one hotel on the way back when we’re coming home. Once I get star link mini, I can spend more time out on the trails. I do enjoy networking with people at campgrounds and have met some really good friends that way, not to mention being at Expo West and Expo PNW where graciously took a picture with me as you were leaving the expo Sunday afternoon with your family. I absolutely love the Overland community, where everyone is pretty much like-minded. Keep up the great work, will , love watching your videos.

The small trailers and roof top tents have their place. We live and camp year around in Central Oregon. Three of the four seasons night time temperatures can be extreme so my wife chose the Imperial Outdoors X 195. It is rated to -30° F. With 12 AC and Truma furnace she is comfortable all year around. Old rock pits or stock pile sites are one of our go to campsite. They may not have the woody feel of camping in the trees but our 1200 watts of solar and 1080 Amps Lithium battery bank love them. Plus the are less likely to get stuck in the mud. We also prefer to drive slow and smell the sage brush in the high desert or pine trees in the forest. Life is fragile enjoy each day to it's fullest. For the children remember to make great memories.

I got to agree with you Will, Rob is an excellent cinematographer and some of the best drone footage I've ever seen. Glad you enjoyed the family time with those trailers, but I would never buy one. Mostly because I'm too cheap, but also because I'm too big. The boys in my family are all well over 6ft and 200 lbs. Add the girls in and it becomes too crowded with stinky feet and teen BO. So, what to do? Go big!!! Taking my 36ft travel trailer for a family reunion next weekend. Plenty of space, all the tech comes along (40in TV and Xbox), plus a full bathroom and shower. When I wanna go play off road, I'll take my dirt bikes and ATV loaded onto a Jayco Baja 10Y toy hauler tent trailer. I fab'd a stronger rear bumper with hitch so that we can have the jet ski and off road toys at the lake. Now if I really wanna go remote, the little Samurai gets pulled out for solo adventures. Lifted, roof rack for the kayak or paddle board, cot tent w/heated queen mattress and a Bluetti power station. With a hitch hauler hanging off the rear end, I can still bring my KX250 into the woods.
