Dad Loves Cars 1977 beat me to it. There are other models with more amps. Randy has the biggest one with the most amps and can charge a battery that’s 24 volts. It might cost heck of a lot but you get what you pay for.

Wow things have changed, I remember at my uncle's yard in London he had this evil ex army tank starter which had two huge truck batteries in and you could put the posi jump lead in at 12v, 24v, 48v and even had a 120v through a small oil filled transformer, was on a wheely trolley like those used for carrying large gas bottles and heavy as hell. We entertained ourselves often by putting the big volts through ex electricity board capacitors that often got scrapped there and this thing had super long leads that used to glow in the cold weather when trying to jump a lorry or truck engine. 48v thru a 12v bendix starter was fun, would take no time at all to get the smoke pouring out the guts of the motors lol

That's real cute n all, but an actual "Booster-Pac" (ES5000 I think) will jump start a semi by itself (no batt attached). And I mean it'll crank it over fast. Mine's still going strong after 7 years, and is still about $125 online. Also I almost never charge mine with the wall charger. I just let it charge from what it just started for a few, plus I've stopped trying to keep a batt in my diesel tractor, and just use the booster pac instead. Which is why I think mine is still good after 7 years of service.

I'm impressed as they do work if you get the one without a tire pump and a host of other things that never were going to in the first place. What I don't like is the style battery they use has a memory in it and if your don't put them full charge and they can tell, it will only charge to its highest voltage reading it ever had

I personally have never had much luck with jump devices. You have to keep them charged to keep the battery fresh, but then they tell you not to overcharge them. So it's catch-22, and they run down. I hope you have better luck. 👍🔋

Why did you connect the black to the battery and not ground it on the first vehicle? I just bought this device and have never heard of connecting black to the battery before, always to a non-moving/painted metal. But when I did that I only got enough power to get a little juice, I couldn’t get it to turn over. Much appreciated if you have the time to answer!! :)

For almost $150 I'll pass. You can get one at Harbor Freight on sale for less than fifty bucks that will do the same thing. Even if it didn't last that long you could buy two more and still pay less than one of these.

@@paul9912 I've been wanting one of these for a while and it's hard for me to find any long-term reviews on any of them. I do know that O'Reilly's sells one I forget what brand it is. We used to use it in the towing company I worked for and they are truly awful. They don't have enough power to jump start shit and the compressors that were built into them were just as terrible. I'd imagine the Harbor Freights would be along those lines
@paul99125 жыл бұрын
@@rustybrowneye I agree there probably about the same. But at least the Harbor Freight one is not $150 is my point.

Paul Ss : I wasn't being literal, I'm well aware it won't blow up your battery. I'm not a fan of products from Harbor Freight. Yes, some are perfectly fine depending on your needs. I'm just not sure I'd trust a product like this from HF for something that is going to take a lot of use and abuse as it most likely will at a recycling yard.
