For everyone commenting and messaging me about the disconnection issue with the Eskates in this video, this video was made months before the release of the Skates as a beta test. I notified Escend about this problem as did other skaters working on this project and Escend solved the remote disconnection issue Immediately and since there official release which was a few months after this video was made the Escend electric skates are working perfectly as they should with no issues.

Hi AJ, great video, we love to see you enjoying the skates! There a few things we would like to mention: 1) When you are powering on the skates, you don't need to simultaneously hold the button on the remote. The remote will automatically find each skate after you switch them on :) 2) We are sorry to hear about the connectivity issue. It is something that we identified in this pre-production run and have already completely resolved it! 3) There are a few things worth noting about the battery charge level: - The rate at which it discharges is influenced by the speed mode that you go in and the terrain. - If you ride in the highest speed mode and go up quite a few hills, then it drains the battery quicker. - It is also worth mentioning that you can save some battery charge by accelerating after an initial, manual push. - The charger that was provided in your package only charges the battery to 90%, which takes away around 2km of range. The idea behind that is to allow the user to use regenerative breaking when going downhill for prolonged period of time, right after charging the skates. When you use regenerative breaking, the energy from the motor charges the battery which makes the breaking less effective when the battery is already close to 100%. However, we realise that this that this feature is not applicable for everyone, so we will also be offering chargers that do 100% charge as well. We look forward to more videos and feedback! ESCEND

I think it can only make sense if they eliminate the remote control and let you skate naturally, with the same skating tecnique as for traditional skates, "amplifying" your pushes like on Electric assisted bikes.
@SideZwipe2 жыл бұрын
That’s a interesting take but how would the skate know when to assist your skating without the remote?
@Diegoroma702 жыл бұрын
@SideZwipe by using a force sensor between each boot and the related frame. But the control system would be tricky to tune because the force on the pushing skate should result in a motor action on both skates with a variabile ratio which depends on many other variables (lean angle, direction of the skate, distance between skates). For sure the assisting action should be gentle, smooth and intuitive, in order to avoid your skates "escape" forward from under your center of mass
@Madi_Ernar Жыл бұрын
Or have a possibility to turn on the motor for going uphill, while you skate naturally for the rest of the time. Maybe it will be possible to have a generator as well, to charge the battery while you're skating on your own. Like hybrid cars do.

I randomly got shown your review of the Escend electric inline skates which i was interested in and I was very impressed with your review mate, it was very in depth. Keep up the good work, as an older aggressive inline skater who after a long hiatus is coming back into the scene I love to see fellow passionate skater who is willing to put themselves out there and promote the inline skating form. Keep up the good work mate and I mean it. As an Aussie skater who fell out of the scene around 2008, its great to see people who love the sport and want to keep it alive and promote it, I stopped skating because i didn't know anyone who still did it, so its great to see people like you doing what you do mate. Keep it up, i loved the review as I am super keen to try a pair if they are any good and you review definitely has made me think that i might try them out. I look forward to more from your channel mate, anyone willing to put themselves out there to help promote inline skating deserves my respect and support mate. Keep it up and we will be the king of "action sports" as the call it now, like we were when I was young.

What is a transition like from front to back, or back to front. Are wheels reacting to change of direction? I saw you did Eagle on them, was that with power on?
@SideZwipe2 жыл бұрын
With the eagle the power was on but because the back wheels are motorised I used my back leg with front toe wheel otherwise it wouldn’t work. Transitioning from forwards to backwards is simple enough you just have to make sure you stop before going forward or backwards. The wheels react well to the change of direction

very cool, well done, BIG want!! reading this comment section answered most of my quandries. I would likely get the doop boot set up for convenience. but yea, more speed and more range are needed to compete with eboards, the other coolest way to get around. making a version where the batteries aren't in the frames, but instead maybe in the soul of the boot, allowing you to grind, would be epic too. the backpack battery idea is cool, but the cord would have to be strapped down and that would be less convenient. ideally they would be 100% waterproof, but I know that is a hard thing to achieve. anyway, subbed, keep em comin'!

They look pretty cool. I think I might get hurt if I tried them, after skating over 20 years I would try old habits like going backwards and flip forwards not thinking the wheels are powered the wrong way at the time of the direction change. Probably would face plant a few times learning some old tricks won't work well.

Yes you can skate in these if the battery runs out they are heavier than normal skates so you might find it difficult but I can be done. I personally wouldn’t recommend skating on them when the battery runs out unless your near somewhere you can charge them up

@xymaryai82832 жыл бұрын
bit confused about the controller, i don't know much about skating but the bits i've seen, the skaters change direction fairly often. there should be a dedicated button for direction switching so you don't have to double click the mode switch button and potentially accidentally switch modes instead of direction if you double click too slowly
@SideZwipe2 жыл бұрын
You have to come to a stop to switch from backwards to forward and the speed modes are very easy to control when using the skates

This is like a year later but like, couldn't you technically still push with each skate while also pressing forward on the remote? I dont see why you couldn't push and use the power at the same time if you still wanted to go through the motion of skating. I kinda want to buy these primarily for the ability to ride offroad like through grass and maybe some dirt etc ive seen some videos of people doing it.

Perhaps they would have been better had they instead of using a hand control, simply enhanced the riders push. So you push and it gives you more power at the wheels. That might have been better that way the rider of the skates would control the speed of the wheels and not the controller. Also with regards to the battery life, get a leather belt, run a cable from the boots to a battery pack worn around the waist, just two things, 1 you would have to ensure the cables are well protected using armoured cable and two the battery packs would also need to be protected for in case the rider falls over and bangs the battery box. You could even incorporate battery swap systems.

That remote disconnection issue is very strange; especially as those hobbywing remotes are quite proven? You might want to flag that issue up with Escend; as we stopped having remote disconnects years ago in the Esk8 world. Like seriously, you can walk 10ft+ away from your board and it will still work.
@SideZwipe Жыл бұрын
They have already sorted it I flagged it up with them whilst making this video which was Filmed 4 months before they released the skates and now they have no issues. I must admit when they started disconnecting I was surprised as I’ve worked electric skate boards and as you say the remote still works from a good distance away
@TiaanKruger Жыл бұрын
15km (just over 9miles) range seems fairly limited, but i guess you can only fit in so much batteries coming from eboards, the disconnect issue seems worrying, especially at that close range...
@SideZwipe Жыл бұрын
The disconnect issue has been resolved and has a bigger range, as these are the first one yes the 9 miles range is abit limited but as for short distance commutes it’s not really a problem
