Mine unfortunately died when i grew out of my blades... That might be the reason why it tapered off. Skateboarding is so easy to just pick up and do for anyone. With blades you have to change shoes and you grow out of them pretty quick if you start young. Plus the level of innovation with skating has just been constant while blading kinda hit a ceiling. Eventually it just got stale for fans.

Just so people realize the significance of this the Yasutouko brothers are literally even to this day the only ones that can do some of those moves they are doing. Back then they were pinnacle revolutionary skaters. The X games also killed Rollerblading When Rollerblading was the most popular sport and its also the reason why the X games Exist. At 21:18 he nearly does the 1440 which is no small feet and he landed straight on the flat right onto his kneecaps while nearly landing right on the flat. The force alone from him spinning so hard could of easily put him out the game. He looked concerned when he went down.
