Testing Out Royal Oak Char Pellets | Burger Cook at the Lake Camp

I have wanted to try the char pellets. I found some Royal Oak Char Pellets at Lowe's and picked them up. To try them out I fired up the ReqTec Bullseye and cooked up some burgers. In the end, I loved the pellets, give 'em a try sometime.

These are great pellets. They are water resistant too. Not water proof as Heath Riles and others say. Left a couple of bags in pickup 3 nights of rain. They were solid brick. They mix well with oak, hickory, pecan, mesquite, others too. Hope you had good eclipse. We went south 60 miles to Gatesville, Texas. Right on centerline. Had 4 minutes and 33 seconds of totality. Great time.

You can really get a good charcoal flavor with these but I find it's most prevalent with beef for some reason. I also like to use them as my "fuel" in my Traeger due to their cost being fairly low and not producing that sawdust like more inexpensive wood pellets can do. Then I toss some Knotty Wood in a smoking tube at the start of my longer cooks.
