I took a needle nose plier and slightly bent the top giving the hook a tighter curve and allowing the top portion to attach into the wall! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey I have experienced the same issue, can you show on a video what you did to fix it. I tried pulling it closer with a plier but it didn't work!

I have one that holds 50 lbs. Works great. All you hasd to do was tap a small nail in the wall to give you a portal and the instert the hook You made this way more difficult than it had to be.

But that wasn't the issue though. He mentioned that the space between the drywall and concrete wall was too narrow, so he had to bend the hook so it could fit. He no problem making the initial hole.

Will they work on plasterboard rather than typical drywall? I have searched this question repeatedly on Google and KZbin both but unsuccessfully with getting an answer, or even a mention of using them with plasterboard. In case you're not familiar with what plasterboard is, it's much more difficult to hammer in nails or even screws with a screw gun in some cases (similar to wall paneling, in regards to the difficulty of using nails and screws). And to my knowledge was often used in older buildings (pre 70s), as well as mobile homes, doublewides, etc. Thank you in advance!

Hey Laura, I haven't tried it on Plasterboard - but in theory, it should work the same. Maybe try in on an inconspicuous place and let us know how it goes!

@more936 a very small hole... I'd say no more than a few mm. It's a very easy patch job!

Nope. After some minor alterations, it worked like a CMHC approved mortgage!

Monkey hook: What's not to like???? No need for the right hanger type a drill, the right size bit, electricity...... I found it very easy to use even when going through pink insulation. I did withdraw and try again. Easy-peasy. I hope I didn't move that too much. I used 2 to hang a 3 lb. weird sculpture, 2 not because of the weight but to balance the piece on the wall. Actually I made the 2 hooks from a medium weight wire coat hanger 2 days a go. Use heavier.... you get the idea. I now wish all my walls were drywall instead of plaster on lathe (not really).

Use an awl or nail to poke the hole if necessary. When moving hook into the wall begin "curving" it into the hole moving it vertically. So much less time than banging a nail.

How heavy is the picture?

who the heck needs a stud for a picture that weighs so little??
@tahoma6889 Жыл бұрын
DO NOT BEND THESE, they need to have pressure on the backside against the wallboard. Push in half way, rotate with hook up, and push in the rest. Bending them will defeat their purpose and put weight in the wrong place. Science.

Good point.

Not helpful if the camera is focused on the person's arm and not the actual insertion of the monkey hook.

this demo doesnt work
@MarkSavel11 жыл бұрын
Sure it does, just needed to tweek the product so it would fit behind the drywall
@barbaradunn53449 жыл бұрын
+Baldwin Sanders I agree the demo does not work. The picture when hung was very crooked. Some pictures, even rather light weight or moderate weight, cannot be hung to look right or to even stay on the wall. Tonight, a young senior, cannot connect the picture with the hole in the plywood backing of my picture. Why will the many supporters of the monkey picture hanger show the best way the picture on the hook. It is very difficult since tiling the frame scrapes the wall. Help! And show the whole procedure. Putting the hanger in the wall is simple even for me, a senior woman!
@barbaradunn53449 жыл бұрын
+Barbara Dunn I meant to say "Why will the supporters of this product NOT show the best way to hang the picture on the hook. We all know how to put the hook in the wall. That is not the hard part. Connecting the the picture the hook since you have to tilt the picture is the hard part. Again, people demonstrating how to use the hook, please show the whole procedure.
