Testing out the new kayak stabilizers

First time on the water with my new kayak stabilizers. I have no balance at all and I'm hoping these stabilizers will work.

Small boats and canoes with outriggers have existed since time immemorial. One still sees outriggers used to keep fishermen and passengers safe all across the Philippines and elsewhere. Outriggers make sense on kayaks in windy and wavy shoreline areas. They could also be important for the heavier fishing kayaks that are hard to upright if capsized. The relative instability of kayaks has probably put many folks off getting into them as a hobby.

Iv'e been waiting for this review having watched your other one on installation of outrigger. I bought a Robson Moonster kayak almost flat bottom white water kayak for use on our UK lakes and off shore. Knowing that tracking would be difficult I fitted a skeg which did good keeping me in a straight line but after just 45 minutes I made the mistake of turning my body 45 degrees to watch this guy doing stunts with his wind surfer and over I went. 😢 So its been just great to see how you went on as although Ive fitted my outrigger Ive yet to try it out. ThanX

Can you flip the bar 180 degrees so that the floats are higher off the water to reduce drag?

I bought a sit on top kayak to fish from but for the life of me I can barely keep from flipping over, let alone try o fish from. I’m 6’2” and about 270lbs. My pelican kayak is rated at 325lbs so should be ok. These look like they may be the answer I’ve been looking for. Do you think these would stabilize my kayak enough for me to be comfortable to fish from?

I'm 6'2" and around 300 lbs and it makes my kayak very stable. It would be very hard to turn it over. I think you would love them.

Hi, do you have access to the hull of your kayak ? I'd like to install this on my kayak but don't know how to maintain the screww in place as i can't have access inside and put bolt and plates ...

The kit came with Whale nuts, it's a screw that has rubber around it and when you tighten it the rubber gets bigger. I didn't have access so this worked perfect. You can also use kayak rivets. I had the same question when I was looking to install them. Thanks for watching.

No I have not, I usually wait for nice days to fish. Never liked rough water but had some boats fly past me and they held up very well to the boats wake.
