Here is the VTD center diff swap video. Your LL Bean doesn't have this, it's standard on the VDC H6 trim. It'll make the rear locker more useful as it applies more torque to it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/in-vXopmqdqUhs0

Hell yeah Marc! Donald from SoftRoading the west is right! Your Subie does take **best** advantage of the locker. H6 + 4EAT = WIN!!! Im very happy for you!

Ohhh yeaaaa so far it is definitely looking that way! Like I mentioned to you we need to get out and really test it! But sending the car out to subiworks next week for some TLC

the.rooted. progress I can tell from that steep rutted climb, it wasn’t fazed by the ruts and your H6 and 4EAT kept the tires spinning when it ran into a little adversity. I’d love to see what your H6 could do at the rocky shelf climb at Gorman. I think you may be able to crawl it pretty easily.
@JonDZ_Adventuring5 жыл бұрын
the.rooted. progress the rocky shelf climb is mainly a test of transmission, but wandering Forester proved that wasn’t a problem for the 4EAT. More power/torque and your locker, and it’s not even a matter if you’ll do it, it’ll be a matter of how easily you’ll do it.

@@JonDZ_Adventuring yaaa most definitely seeing how he was able to do it without a locker would def mean I could make it up without a locker. I'm excited to see how that would pan out. More like how much easier it could be with a locker. So far it's made a huge difference for me and I highly recommend it! I was telling Dak how I found out about the torq locker from your Instagram so ever since I had been planning to sell the Forester I've been trying to find the best Subaru suited for it. I came back from an Arizona trip and hit up some hills with some of the Mtnroo Az group. Some of them had the H6 with the 5eat. Imagine that with a locker ooof then I think that would definitely be the best Subaru awd platform. Gotta work on that center lock mod as well. 😁

the.rooted. progress Wandering_forester has an aftermarket rear LSD and he’s easily the most skilled Subaru off-roader I know (and have witnessed). If you watch him go up the steep rutted hill in my pioneer town video, he does it so smooth and easily. I believe this was before he put in the LSD.

Long term, you might want to service the MPT clutch pack. Replace it with a new set. I've seen them take heavy wear from the torquey H6 models. Once the MPT wear out enough, the MPT won't be able to push you up steeper inclines during diagonal spins. If you want a better upgrade, a VTD center diff swap is best.

Any uneven tire wear in the rear or sharp tight Corning issues?
@therootedprogress4 жыл бұрын
No noticeable increased wear to the rear yet. I rotate them often every 6k miles or two oil changes so prolly won't notice a difference. If my tires wear faster than the acclaimed mileage from the tire company then I guess we can assume increase wear with the locker. Otherwise, no issues during tight cornering. It drives normal if >15mph. If less than 15mph the locker is very tight and you need to just drive slow through the turning till your able to straighten out the wheel. Check out our video "finally lifted the outback" you can see how much noise it makes during tight turns. FYI The locker is only engaged when one tire is up in the air. During shop turns it has an auto release.... Hence the noise and clunking feel u experience when sharp slow turns. Other than that everything is normal and hardly noticeable.

the.rooted. progress thanks man I’ll take a look. I’ve always wondered if that gets annoying to hear in the parking lot haha. I’ve seen other videos. At least isn’t a full lock that would chew up the tires. An electric locker would be sweet but expen$ive!

Niiiiceee! Your not too far out. This place is in Moreno valley behind some houses. I'd have to show you. But there are a ton of back lots with dirt roads you could use to practice. Hit me up on Instagram @the.rooted.progress we'll try to meet up sometime. And check out @subiworks in Murrieta. They make help build race built subies and mainly do offroad Subarus.

Question- who did the installation for your torq locker?! I bought one too for my Subaru outback and the shop at my area doesn't seems like they want to do the job/ might not have a qualified mechanic to do so. Let me know when you get a chance.
@therootedprogress3 жыл бұрын
If you live in Southern California, I took mine to Subiworks in Murrieta, Ca. They are well versed with the Torque Locker. If not I can shoot you some youtube videos. you might be able to do it on your own if you have the right toos.

grieves me to see people cutting body work . if you going to do the job do it proper and fit some rear trailing arm spacers
@therootedprogress4 жыл бұрын
Some trailing arm spacers would have been nice. If I had the money I would have went with the proper rear trailing arm spacers in combination with our king lift springs. To buy em all together wouldve costed me >$1000 without upgrading the oem shocks. It wouldnt have been worth it to me. Trimming the body was not ideal but would have eventually have to happen with the size of these wheels I am running.

@@therootedprogress you should have a look at a subieliftoz kit . matt does free shipping to the USA and its the best kit on the market
@therootedprogress4 жыл бұрын
@@wayniexagt yesss subielift oz makes some great lift kits. At one point, I was dreaming of buying the monster lift kit. But living at an apartment makes it hard to do all that extension work. I've actually settled for this current lift and suspension setup for now and slowly gonna save and plan for either a coilover off-road solution and or swap in fj cruiser struts for front and tacoma struts for rear. One of the businesses in california was making adapter kits and subframe spacers to make em work but got destroyed by the ca fires recently. 😟 Hoping they bounce back cuz they're alot cheaper than coilovers. And I think it'd be easier maintenance, just swap over the Toyota parts when they are no good. Idk how much re-valving or servicing coilovers would be but I'm assuming itd be pretty pricey still.
