For the chain lube mess : order a pizza and eat it. Now use the box with the lid open resting the lid between the chain and the wheel. Whatever lube that doesn't land on your chain goes against the lid or in the box. When your done take the box away close the lid and no mess on the floor or on the rim.😉

the air compressor and gas tank is likely the most useful. However I'd like to suggest something a little different for you to test. Instead of blowing compressed air, try a second tube with you blowing on it instead of compressed air. IDK if it'll work but it's more useful and much less expensive than buying a vac if it does work.

You can calculate that the pressure needed for the first hack is actually very small. If the top of the tube is X centimetres above the level of liquid, you need x/1000 bar of pressure to raise the liquid to that height. So for, e.g., 20cm, you need just 0.05 bar of pressure. Actually just about possible for a "standard" man, which can produce about 23cm H2O of overpressure.

I do a form of #4 every day. I'm a CNC machinist, and a couple of the 5-axis machines I run make impellers all day every day. Those impellers seal to the fixture and you can NOT pull them off no matter how hard you try. Prying isn't an option because it will scar the impeller as well as the fixture. What *does* separate the impellers from the fixture is some well-placed compressed air. Pops 'em right off. As for the vise grip bit, I've taken to clamping a smaller vise grip on the knurled adjuster bolt on the larger "main" vise grip.

For the lube situation, you want an splashproof overspray tool. It attaches to the can and has like a little bucket so whatever you spray, the excess gets caught in the bucket. As for the wrench, if you really want to, just swap out the tightening bolt for a standard hex head bolt and use a spanner. However, they are NOT designed to be tightened that way... that adaption is meant for LOOSENING ONLY!

Re chain lubing: for years I've used Wurth Dry Chain Lube. It is hardly more viscous than water, and spraying it on the outside of the chain works fine. It dries very quickly, and as a result doesn't attract road dirt. When it comes to relubing, I just clean the chain with paper towels and paraffin. No need pfaffing around trying to lube from the inside. Re the disc: almost all road bikes have semi floating discs: the only one I've owned with full floaters was a Ducati 888 SP4 - you could rattle the discs with a finger.
