Testing SEAKEEPER gyroscopic boat stabilization on VEITCH 23 is this REAL?

Watch as we learn a bit about the Seakeeper system in this brand new Veitch 23 centre console. We then get a nice rock and roll happening in the boat before turning the system on to see what happens.

Unfortunately it was a dead calm day, so this was the best simulation we could really do. Camera may not pick it up but we had the boat bloody rocking like anything......didn't take much either!

Not sure if the humming I heard during the video is the same gentle humming you mentioned because I noticed that even when the unit was switched off to create the rocking of the boat I could still hear the humming. I am sure when underway you would not hear the humming noise emitted from the unit over everything else but when stationary & fishing I think that noise would become annoying, then again a rocking boat when fishing is also annoying. I would love to experience this firsthand to assess. I am interested to know if you think the humming noise is too much or would the plusses outweigh the negatives.

Well I'm just assuming that hum was it. The effect of the product was literally crazy. It's a bloody unstable boat without it! Quite literally amazing once it's turned on, I have always been very skeptical

I guess on the ocean, a few sounds, engine, music etc I'd say you would just get used to it. It definitely wasn't excessive or anything

Tbh I'm not totally sure, I wasn't paying enough attention. Had more friggin boat sagas (my own boat), had me pre occupied

Seakeeper's are amazing, wish I had one on my boat but can't justify dropping 20k+. Seakeepers have high power requirements and a short life warranty (IMHO).

I asked about the life span and they said some have run for 15000 hours plus

Good summary of the product. Definately a game changer for deep vee vessels. I think comparing to trim tabs is a bit of a miss comparison as they are a totally different product as mentioned by the sea keeper rep. I think the price point would be miles apart also. Would love a seakeeper in one of our builds one day. Also would have made the video a bit better seeing the vessel under way. Great info none the less. Thanks.

@@BaitBallin sorry missed understanding. Msg was referring to Tom in vid. I use to work with him at Port Phillip boating centre. Than at haines hunter. Than saw him 10yrs later working with Sav Winches. Now 4yrs later his at "sea keeper"

Price no idea! I have no affiliation with them. Noise, there was a constant gentle humming while it was on.

@@BaitBallin About $24k retail for the Seakeeper 1 unit. Budget around $30k installed.

As cool as the gyro is , to slap one in a trailer boat is seems ridiculous and a little 'try hard. Costs extra $30k and 200kg(generally big trailer boats have vehicle GCM towing issues to consider) and takes up internal space, If stability is important why not simply buy a catamaran? gives same stability as rest as mono with seakeeper. Plus you have $30k cash left over to buy bigger motors or more fishing gear.

Well yeah I mean I definitely see them being way more popular in bigger boat situations for sure. Im not sure they will take off in the 23ft size range, but bigger boats perhaps they will

@@BaitBallin I say take up golf, if the Ocean bothers you. Watched another video of a big Ghetto Cruiser (50 seats and cup holders with 4-450 Yamahas) the addition of the Seakeeper as the boat was built was over $65k in now worthless US dollars! WHOA!

Yeah they are costly no doubt. Hopefully over time the price comes down.
