yes! a response video! that's what I'm talking about... this is what needs to happen- people get out and test it themselves! haha throwin shade too. good thing i don't take things personally on this platform. great tests man- glad it's working for you. i'm reinstalling the update and gonna give it another shot this week

@@CalebHoover thought the “shade” would bring more attention to the video so people could see that it does work. Not 100% perfectly but I’d call it a solid 90% accurate. I’ve tested 6 different sigma ef lenses and they all work great except for my 50 1.4. I’ll have to test more and see why I couldn’t get it to work. Thanks for watching.

@@CalebHoover cool I’m glad you got it to work and I hope to see a follow up from you. So many more people will watch your video vs mine so I hope you can show that it does work and not make metabones look bad or keep people from wanting to achieve a new look using their mft cameras. No one sends me anything, I have to buy my own gear so if the AF was crappy I would have happily confirmed it but in this case, it does work really well.

Awesome! Thank you so much for this test, it's giving me hope while I patiently wait for my Metabones to arrive lol. And thanks for proving what I knew would be necessary if I ever wanted to shoot the Sigma wide open to get "the full frame look" in broad daylight: stacked NDs. The Nisi's look amazing! How have you been liking the kit? As soon as I have the cash I'm grabbing one myself, and a second G9 II of course hehe
@ChrisFlores224 ай бұрын
@@JohnFelipo yeah the image looks amazing. I have a whole set of 1.2 primes from Olympus but they don’t come close to this sigma 18-35. They shine in how small they are but if IQ is the #1 priority then I think using a metabones is the way. I love my nisi filters. They are pricey but I like having 1-5 because o shoot interviews indoors and sometimes I just need minimal nd. The stack 4stop turns the 1-5 into a 5-9. I also have mist filters from them I like them as well. & I BOUGHT IT ALL MYSELF, so I’m happy to recommend them.

I have a G100 currently and pretty much exclusively use EF lenses, and am so excited for my G9 ii (crazy upgrade I know) and this video was super encouraging. I just have a Viltrox instead of a Metabones. I know you said it froze up your camera, but im hoping its a firmware issue, since i have no issue on the G100- the autofocus is just unusable in video. If not i guess ill just be forced to get a Metabones since im so invested in EF with only a few native lenses

@ChrisFlores224 ай бұрын
@@BAUZKI I have both. On my sigma 18-35 use the ultra because it avoids vignette and designed for s35 lenses. The XL is designed for full frame lenses. So no wrong doing in having bought the ultra if you’re using the sigma 18-35

Hey @ChrisFlores22 - thanks for this video! Is there any risk the of the XL's rear element damaging your G9ii? Metabones hasn't updated their compatibility chart online, so your experience is really the only information available. Thanks again for making this video!

How does the stabilization work?
@francescorivetti3234Ай бұрын
Hi! I've recently upgraded my gear, moving from a GH5 to a GH7. The Sigma 18-35mm has always been my trusted companion, adapted with a Viltrox EF-M2II but on the GH5 I never used autofocus because, as everybody knows, it didn’t perform well, even with native lenses. Could you kindly let me know if continuous autofocus with the 18-35mm and Metabones adapter is noisy? I’m deciding whether to invest in a Metabones or switch to the native 10-25mm f1.7. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
@ChrisFlores22Ай бұрын
@@francescorivetti3234 I don’t think it’s noisy but idk what your tolerance level is. If you buy a metabones used, it will be a lot cheaper than the lumix lens and still the blurry backgrounds most people want. The sigma 18-35 is still a great lens and I recently sold it because I switch to all FF ef lenses. The positive of using the sigma is that if you switch systems you’ll still be able to use the sigma. If you get the expensive lumix, you might be stuck with it if your ever switch systems. Even your sigma can be adapted to FF lumix cameras granted not at a FF field of view but it will still work. The lumix lens will not go with you outside of mft.
@francescorivetti3234Ай бұрын
Thank you very much; what you say about the lenses is true and, above all, makes a lot of sense. I agree with every word you said. I just wanted to be sure it wouldn’t be too noisy (as long as I can record audio with a microphone attached to the camera without hearing the lens constantly trying to focus - worst case- it’s fine). Thanks again! I really appreciated your response🙏🏻

Would this be better than the focus pro lidar? I'm thinking if I get the 18-35 and the 50-100 f1.8s I'm pretty much covered for all video focal lengths with this metabones speedbooster and update. I don't think I would need any other lens than these two plus the speedbooster
