Hi Simon, I really enjoy your videos.. I’ve a question why are they discontinuing the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot foil? Are they coming out with a newer version?

I especially loved that you did not do a polished video in which you look like an expert and instead were a foiling plate newbie like most of your viewers. My favorite, though, is how you kept having to look for things that you thought were right there. Story of my life! Favorite video of yours so far for sheer novelty.

Now you need the Pinkfresh solid plate to foil with the negative portions. My Glimmer machine arrives Tuesday, so your KZbin was so timely for me. Thank you.

I enjoyed this so much. I’ve had my Glimmer machine for awhile and I’m intimidated by it. I’ve used it once or twice but I’m never confident with it. Thank you for your tips and tricks. I loved that you left in the footage of you misplacing the plates and looking for your Stickles! We’ve all been there! Now, I’m going to get my machine out and try it again! Thanks, Simon!

I've had my Glimmer machine for almost a year & I love it. When I've got the machine out for a project I foil a bunch of sentiment strips in different colour foils at once on white cardstock. I then have sentiments ready to go, just colour over the top to match. Also, foiling on heat resistant acetate is stunning!

Simon- always enjoy your videos! Your first experience with the Glimmer machine went far better than mine. Bought it because Spellbinder stated that it was compatible with the E Bosser, which is an electric embossing machine that I love. Guess what- they are not compatible! Spellbinder admitted that they made an error and was kind enough to send me one of their manual embossing machines that I only use with the Glimmer machine. Good business!

This was a great tutorial! Thank you. I just started this kind of foiling and it’s so fun. I use a battery operated sand eraser that has 2 sizes of erasers. The little one can easily get into those tight spots to take care of over foiling.

@NancyBrown-b1f29 күн бұрын
I lay the plate on a cutting mat, place the roll on top, pull out what you to cover the plate then I use a rotary cutter. So much easier then scissors. Them place the plate on the chase, then when it's ready, place you cut foil on it and then the paper, no need to tape anything down. Love mine. Reverse is great too with foil so 2 cards in 1!

Hi Simon ! I bought the Gemini Foil Press because I already owned a Gemini Jr. Based on the videos I’ve watched, the two foiling systems seem pretty similar. I have hot foil plates made by Crafters Companion as well as Spellbinders. I have to say, I like the Spellbinders plates more. I don’t know what the difference is, but they give a slightly “crisper” foil press effect. I’ve also lucked out and found the Spellbinders plates at Hobby Lobby at a great clearance price. So that’s my two cents on the subject. GREAT tip on using cellophane to figure out where to place your Stickles and a really beautiful card. I’m definitely going to add this plate to my collection.

I need to get the eraser, because the over foiling is frustrating. Thank you for demonstrating it for us, Simon. Much appreciated. I was also watching another demonstration recently, you can use your other dies to hot foil also. It will have a very thin line but it will be there...so more useful than I thought with the actual hot foil plates. I need to get the Pink Fresh solid plate next. Then I can use my reverse sides and not waste the extra foil, giving a positive and negative images. I often do that with dies as well...makes for less waste too. Blessings!

If you have issues with overfoiling, make sure you aren’t using too much foil. I cut really close to the plate I’m foiling with. Also, only one pass through the die cut machine.

Like everyone here, enjoyed your video, Simon and all the ways "you are you"! Want to add, loved the tip with adding Stickles when you used the clear wrapper to see if you liked Stickles on the berries. Such a simple tip, but clever! Your poinsettia card was so colorful and beautiful.

Funny. I just picked up my machine on Friday from Hobby Lobby. I said if they had one on the shelf, I would go home with it. They did and I did. I've been foiling all weekend. I do love that poinsettia plate you used. Great card.

thank you so much for mentioning a foil machine for Gemini. I've really wanted to try spellbinders glimmer club, but don't need a new Platinum machine when I already have Gemini.
@CouzCat3 жыл бұрын
I have the Glimmer & am looking forward to using it. You make a good point about being fearless with the sand eraser. Because the Glimmer creates a letter press, the foil is below the surface of the card stock so you’re unlikely to remove it unless you are really heavy handed. I’ve also seen people use a white eraser as well.

You had a great first result! Really love what you did for that Christmas card, the foil and ink blending are so pretty. I just bought the Platinum 6 die cutting machine because I wanted a smaller, manual machine (already have the Sizzix Big Shot Plus for my big machine, and the Anna Griffin Empress for my electric machine that cuts with large and regular plates) and I have feeling my next machine purchase will be the Glimmer! 🤦🏼♀️ Thanks for sharing this unboxing and demo, Simon, good to know we can be more aggressive with the sand eraser. 👍🏻💖

Beautiful demo and love the cards. Just a note if you are using the Gemini foiling press..the dies get heated first, detail up, then apply foil shiny side down then cardstock and plate. The foiling press has different settings on timer and make sure to pull the heating pad after each use so it doesn't warp. Great job Dude!! And LOOK a new cloth LOLOLOL

You just had a “senior moment!” Except you were looking for your sunglasses instead of reading glasses, 😂. That was hilarious. You might consider investing in the Spellbinders foil cutter, it helps a lot with avoiding having too much foil as you can put the plate on the cutter and cut foil around it. The final card was lovely!
