Thank you ! I just today was grinding for 6 hours with rubber finger protectors I got off of Amazon and not only are they shredded but the tops of my thumbs are too ( wish I could post a pic). I have a disease called Ehlers Danlos and everyone always thinks I have Rheumatoid Arthritis but it’s not … it’s a college disorder so my joints are super hypermobile and I’ve had several of my fingertips fused already and I am super excited about the glass holder for grinding ! Thanks for the review!!

I tried the toyo in a class but got the gryphon cutter after your video. The gryphon is waaaaaaay more comfortable to use. It feels like it sets you up for correct use rather than a learning curve in the toyo

i got that hakko stand from amazon for christmas! wasn't sure if I should get the sponge or tip cleaner. i like the thought process of removing the top and just shoving a sponge in it anyway lol

I just got given the same sort of trick to open curved scores from the back fo the glass and it's a game changer! I like the look of the tool though, instead of using my thumbs lol

Thinking about the Grinder Mate, it looks like this lifts the glass up slightly to a “new” spot on the grinding bit - right? Could this extend the life of the grinding bit if you grind some glass without the grinding mate and some pieces using the grinding mate? I pretty new to stained glass but have thought a lot about how much of the bit surface is never used. Is there some other product that adjusts the glass position upward on the bit so you can use all/most of the bit surface before changing bits?

Oh girl, just move the bit! You can slide the bit to sit anywhere you want along the grinder shaft. So all surfaces should 100 percent be used!

Being a "sponge" guy for the last 51 years, I had trepidation about using the brass sponge that came with the 633. However, I've used it now for a month, and I must admit that it works quite well.

The tip cleaner? (I prefer sponges for normal soldering too!)

@@MakenzieHallie I continue with the regular sponge for electronics work, but will continue with the brass in the 633 for now. On another note, I'm now signing my work with the cnc laser. It's interesting trying to figure out what color/opacity glass is best for showing the signature. A learning curve. Just finished a 24 inch diameter project, now on to a 43 by 29 window insert with america's cup yacht theme. The ones from the 70's were so magnificent, not like the modern spacecraft looking ones. I'm building a steam generator to make bent wood stands for my work. Another learning curve. Thank you for your videos, they are so informative. John

Makenzie, did the palm runner have directions that included using a compliant surface to hold the glass when pushing? I noticed you used a silicone mat for your work surface. I was thinking that trying to use the palm runner on a hard surface might not be as effective. John

The mat I was cutting it on was not a silicone, it's a very hard craft mat. Just like any other glass cutting I would say stick with hard surfaces.

As I recall, you tend to use a smaller container to hold the flux so you don't spill a large amount of flux. What size is the little container? I mean the OD at the bottom...be exact.. John

I have been using the bloomoak now for a few months. Mine leaks oil. I took it apart, the thread at the rubber grip end closest to the tip is not a good seal, the threads won't seal, and there is no rubber grommet or gasket there either. Perhaps mine was shipped without it? Who knows. Luckily, I came across this video of some stained glass artist who has a little container with a cotton ball (IIRC) at the bottom wetted with oil, and she occasionally dips the tip in to keep the tip lubricated so as to not continuously leak oil. Thank you for that tip as well.. John

😂😂 she sounds smart! Lol!! I'll check mine and see if mine have gaskets I can't remember. I think my nails are why I particularly didn't care for it, makes that grip awkward to hold. I thought I'd like that one the best. I usually wrap electrical tape around my other regular pencil grips, so I figured it would be my fav! I can send it to you so you can have it if you want!
