Oh my goodness, I definitely understand feeling doubt in your abilities. I feel that was when I draw but I am not letting it stop me! I'm glad you didn't let it stop you. 💜🧡

Thank you for sharing your new adventure with gouache. I've been trying to understand the differences from other forms of paint, but still did not understand. Thank you for taking the time for show-n-tell demos. Helped. 🥰 Portrait is lovely!

That big set looks gorgeous! It’s interesting to see you compare the gouache to acrylics as I’ve only really seen them compared to watercolour ❤

I have them and they actually remind me more of Acryla Guoache.

One of my favourite things about watercolour and gouache paint is the reactivation with water. Gouache is cool, like watercolour and acrylic got together and had a baby.

Ya know, there are a lot of art channels on KZbin but yours is consistently relaxing, chill, and enjoyable, and you always come off as having a good time and positive. I appreciate that because in a sea of negativity you're always an island of chill. I've seen more than a dozen reviews of these jelly guoache paints and yours is the first one I didn't skip through. :)

I love HimI/Miya gouache! They are among my favourite art supplies. So glad you mixed the cups up! You are correct they work properly inky after being mixed. I place them from the cups onto another pallet then close the lid. Grabbing fresh agin if needed or resetting from empty half/full pans which tends to rewet well. I spray 1 per week with isopropyl alcohol which prevents all moulding. It does take hours when first opening. They are so fun!

Now that the paints are open, please be careful how high you hold the container on its side!! 😂🌈 Your self-portrait is really lovely!! 😍 I'm glad you chose to finish this at a therapeutic art rate for you!! ❤️ Trying to rush things makes them very stressful for me! 🙄 I can't even play timed games on my phone without breaking out in a sweat.😅

I haven't watched your videos in a long time (for no other reason than just being a busy adult running around), but just wanted to say I still remember you lol and you were a huge artistic and crafting inspiration back in the day. In my mind you're hands down one of the OGs. =) Also. I LOVE your video aesthetic. I remember back then your videos were quite calming and relaxing, but this is like...calm chaos? Lol I really dig it. Anyway thank you for sharing this, it was very entertaining and also enlightening. =D

You look like Princess Leia with that hairstyle. It suits you. My fear is also painting portraits. I adore drawing faces, but fear when I paint them, I’ll ruin them. You must be so proud of yourself for facing those fears. And absolutely, work at the pace that feels right for you. Grats!!

I have the small set, and I have a lot of fun using it. It definitely takes time to master it, especially if you are used to acrylics as I am and not using very much water 😊 I loved the video, and the portrait looks already fabulous. I will wait to see the final result❤

New ideas; animal painting, mixed media (HimI gouache with coloured pencils). I also recommend getting some cheap make up brushes and using them with the gouache! It works great for soft blending and gradients. Also use thickly on toned paper. They work great even on cheap non watercolour papers!

I just don’t care for these jelly paints! They seem so popular and I have used gouache off and on for years now and I simply never enjoyed working with it! I believe that my negativity comes from the job I had in the 1980’s and everything I did was dumped into the round file, yet nothing was saved as that was company policy! I am glad you enjoyed it and you showed it off to great effect a lovely self portrait thank you for showing off the gouache!

I’m wondering before the packets are opened can you shake them to mix the paint and save time? Paint always looks so juicy and fun to me 😂 The self portrait looks so good so far! Make the other half textured haha idk

Question: once you opèn them. How do you seal it? Did they come with lids. Or is the main lid the lid? I think little lids should be required. Guache is related to watercolor. I used guache in art college. You add water to water it down. But its thicker then water color. You can blend with them better then water color. Lol you answered my question on the lid issue. BaHaha

Did you mix them up before use? You can also use them many ways and in mixed media. And take some and place on a separate pallet. You can also do mixed media art. Such as use coloured pencils on top. Use different levels of added water. I also advise trying different brushes. Try also makeup brushes! Yes even cheap dollar store make up brushes this can allow soft blending and gradients! When working thickly use more stiff snappy brushes but watered down treat more as a watercolour and you can use softer brushes. Anyway they are one of my favourite supplies. Still not every supply ‘works’ for everyone and that’s ok. I also love that you can work on the thick side on ANY paper and they work fantastic. Try on toned paper!
