It only takes 1 short spray of smoke. Using too much could damage the sensor.

I have one in my house and my brother burnt potatoes and the detector activated but the unit itself wasn’t beeping but the keypad was going off, is my unit defective? I dont know the model name of my security keypad but it has a touchscreen and it has a sticker on the bottom left corner that says IQ panel

The 2GIG SMKT3-345 does have a built-in sounder, so if you are sure it didn't sound while the alarm panel did sound for an alarm on that particular smoke (and you didn't hit the button on the smoke to temporarily silence it) then it may be defective. It is possible, particularly if the sensor and the alarm panel are close together, that it may have been sounding, and it was just difficult to hear with the alarm panel also sounding. If the system was professionally installed, I would recommend you check with the installing company. If not, then you may want to get some canned smoke, as shown in this video, and further test for yourself. This is a life safety device, so you should have complete confidence in it.

Alarm Grid ok, i know the sounder wasn’t going off, after i took it down and hit the hush button, nothing happend, my brother took the batterys out for 5 minutes before Putting them back in, we put the alarm back up and the keypad was still in alarm so we had to enter the code again to get the alarm to go away, i will have to check it again to make sure uts not defective

@@minnesotaoutdoorwarningsirens Is this the only smoke detector you have? If somehow this smoke detector wasn't the one that activated the alarm, it wouldn't sound (but the one that caused the alarm would and the panel would). That's why I say you should test thoroughly to be sure exactly how it's behaving. Those products should be warranted for a year from the date of purchase, so if it is defective, it's important to contact whomever you purchased it from as quickly as possible.

I put in new batteries and it still beeps. Is this unit defective?

Did you put them in correctly? if so, then the unit could be defective. I recommend replacing it with a new sensor.

I replaced batteries and it is still flashing yellow every 6 seconds and chirping every 45 seconds. No error message on the panel. If I push the test nothing happens! No alarm test. The date on it says replace in 2025. It is April 2024. Help!!!!!

Hello, @DAlilbigman. There are three types of led/sound patterns on the 2Gig-SMKT3-345. I believe the led/sound pattern you are experiencing is the alarm Dirty Feature. ** When the alarm has been contaminated, the yellow LED blinks once every 8 seconds and there is a chirp every 48 seconds. After 4 hours the 2GIG Control Panel displays a loss of supervision message. The only way to clear that message is to clean the unit and after attempting to clean the unit, if the message still remains after cleaning. The last option is to replace the module.
