It's worth noting, this is an inherent weakness of vision based inside out tracking. However, if you want to use it in a dark room, and you control the environment, you can easily fix this with IR LED lights. They sell these for security cameras, and even specifically for VR applications where they include a remote. So you could turn on the IR light, not bother anyone else in the room, and the AVP would see in the dark just fine then.

@@fezkhanna6900 I haven't personally tested it, as this isn't a problem for me, but it should. It works with other vision based tracking systems. And we know that Apple themselves put IR emitters on the AVP. So if you add more IR light to the room, that should make it easier for the AVP to track things.

Theoretically, we should be able to turn hand tracking off and use it with an Apple trackpad or mouse and keyboard in total darkness.

I know that special lights are sold that keep the room dark, but at the same time the headset see everything and it’s works(At least on meta quest works fine)

Makes sense. If it can't see your hands, it can't track them. Hand tracking is cool, but for some things a controller is going to be pretty important still.

Yep, now I gotta test and see if having a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard makes any difference.

@@TrentonsTech unfortunately it will still need light, regardless of the input source. It’s also using the light for the 3D mapping of the space it’s doing.

It’s not “jank” though. If the camera can’t see your hands, how would you expect to control the device?

They easily could've put a couple of very bright invisible IR LEDs in the front. Security cameras have that too. But I think they didn't do that because it's yet another thing that reduces battery life.

I’m able to use my Apple Vision Pro in the dark while I’m laying in bed. The trick is to have it unlocked when the light is on, and then I turn off the lights, but make sure not to block the bottom sensors. They track my hands and I’m able to use most apps.

This is a great video. Really enjoyed it. I am considering buying vr headset because im looking to get some work done while the wife sleeps. Not sure if ill be able to achieve this with the vision pro.

You need to go into accessibility settings and set it up. I have it set up so that I can make sounds to invoke a pinch gesture or I can say scroll down scroll up give those sets of commands and you should be able to just say Siri open app name or invoke the command to show the top menu Or open an app it all works fine although if you’re trying to use it in the dark in bed next to someone else you might not wanna be making random noises in the dark

Also to note on tracking in pitch black if you don’t cover the bottom cameras it will track just fine. Its just super sensitive.

This is true, there's a post on reddit on a lidar app. basically night vision. so I tried and it can detect in dark. But dont know if it changed on the beta 3 update or there's a process cause it stopped working for me today.

Correct me if I'm wrong Adam said he was using his phone flashlight. The phone flashlight is stronger light than the watch. Use should have used your phone just to compare how much light it needs before it starts working back again. Meaning how dimly low you can go before it doesn't work.

Great video. People who hate Apple are always asking for demonstrations on things the device CAN’T do. Most people want to see reviews about what devices are capable of doing. Maybe to balance out the request can you look into the developers who released a new beta app that will allow for two Mac displays. Also, Apple has some great accessibility features.

I think this can be fixed soon with a software update because they can use the lidar sensors for tracking in the low light conditions if necessary

Great video. I’m mostly loving the Vision Pro but I find myself having to restart daily because of system bugs. Not something I’m hearing many people talk about.

It is a version one hardware along with version one software if you had any expectation, you would not be regularly restarting it then you don’t understand computer hardware and numbering systems very well. They probably should’ve called this a beta device. It has many many errors all of which are things which they are going to fix that’s what I love about it. This is the first device of this type that Apple is making. It stated usage case, in addition to the playing of movies and things that everybody likes is basically productivity, and that even now it excels. The ability to integrate with my entire Apple ecosystem with all of my Drives and every one of my many many devices all around the world I am in touch with everything immediately without any effort. I am able to create shortcuts that work devices just like that shortcuts on Apple Vision Pro are the most useful things out there and nobody has had time to even experiment with those yet. This video is an example of somebody getting ahead of their knowledge and not really doing a comprehensive review. Using a productivity device in the dark might trigger the thought in your brain that that is not a normal usage case and perhaps you need assistive help which is to say alternative means of inputtingSay light. Maybe if you’re not an apple person you don’t understand accessibility options because they are incredibly well. Flushed out in this device. A person with no hands can use This device in the dark with no problems

It's completely normal to want to use tech while you're in bed, especially if you're just doing something like watching a movie. And maybe your spouse is sleeping, or you'd rather not have to get out of bed to turn off the lights afterwards.
