Question - can you use & connect an Ethernet cable to the Vision Pro using the developer strap? On latest iPhones and iPad you can use a Ethernet USB-C adapter to connect ethernet via USB-C and I wonder if this also works on the Vision Pro. Would be interested know. Thanks, and nice video :)

$300 to add a USB port!?!? I have to think that a big chunk of that is having to re-buy the speaker. Supporting some sort of passthrough on the power brick would have been so much more elegant (and cost effective). Speaking of which, could you just forego the power brick itself and use that cable to plug the headset directly into your Mac for both power and data while developing?
@dilmerv
@dilmerv 7 ай бұрын
I know Ken $300 is a lot! I think we can all get by without it, this is for extreme cases or if you really concern about saving deployment time with Xcode or other apps as shown in this video. This is also great for people flashing the OS to different versions. For power, this device doesn't supply power to the device, unfortunately you need the battery pack as well as this if you decide to get it. Thanks for your feedback.

Does the strap allow you to use the mac as a virtual display even if on another apple id/account? The main account is not the same one I use on my mac, as this is a shared device, but putting it on to test without being able to connect to my mac is infuriating and I can't swap out the accounts every time I do this. This is mainly to use sensors and other features the simulators does not have. For now I just resetup the eye and hands but would be willing to spend the money if this allows me to keep a different account on while developing
@dilmerv
@dilmerv 3 ай бұрын
To be honest I am not sure, normally I use the same account across devices so I wouldn't be able to tell you. But as a dev yes that would be amazing if you do so since most times we don't use the same account during development for other companies.

Have you tried realtime editing / prototyping using the Polyspatial Play to Device? Does that work without the developer strap? Does it work with it? To me that sounds like the part that might be the best benefit of being hardwired, the ability to edit the thing you're working on in realtime.

@@dilmerv so, there’s an actual ($300) usb cable but it doesn’t support file transfers - even in Mac’s? Wild. It’s a bit messed up because a 1TB headset with a 2TB, 15 year old icloud account could be filled up really quickly. I already had about 250 GB of 3D video the first weekend with the headset. Local solutions seem essential - especially with less robust Internet connections. Thank goodness for AirDrop, but another Apple device should not be required for this simple need.
