Amen about the safety. For these colder months, I've been using layers of sweatshirts with the sleeves all cut short. I wouldn't go as far as to say it keeps me warm, but it at least prevents me from getting too cold to keep going. Another awesome video :)

I could see how that accident could easily happen. Thanks, Happy New Year

Hi, thanks. Lathes are likely the most dangerous machines.

Hi Don I saw that on the news, He was really hurt bad. And I am surprised the micro 100 did so good over the holes. Thanks

I think the brand is known best for holding up on interrupted cuts and even bench lathes.

I know what you mean by always having something to do. I just bought a 6 x 12 Walker Ceramax mag chuck. Nice and clean, surprisingly. But flipping the handle was difficult. It would jam in two places. The shaft for the handle wobbled in the hole in the casting. I took it apart, thinking it would. E filled with a lot of crap as the other chucks always seem to be in the KZbin reverb videos. But it wasn’t. Hardly any lube of any kind either. But the casting was worn there. So tonight I bored the hole to 14mm, which was the outside due of the oillite iron beaded sleeve was from McMastercarr. Saturday I’ve got to bore out the sleeve from .375” to a crazy .4175. Where they came up with that size I can’t imagine. Well, that’s part of the problem, it it would take to long to describe all the rest, but one thing, I’ve got to modify a boring bar for the boring head so that it can cut a bit over an .125 wide circle in the side of the casting around the hole and place another oillite washer there. Oh well. I suppose this isn’t too bad. When it’s cold, other than for the heater, I use a leather thinsulate vest I bought from Cabela almost 40 years ago and which is still in great shape. I hate working with a heavy jacket or coat. My arms feel too restricted.

Your chuck should be like new, I am glad my surface grinder up and going, I want to do more with it and it makes parts look so nice.

After your safety reminder and then seeing all the smoke from cutting oil made me think about putting a small fan close by to blow it away, over time, inhaling that is no doubt a bad thing for sure. I really like that Axleson baby lathe 😁, the head I've no doubt weighs nearly as much as my entire 14x40 Taiwan lathe . I have a few big bars about that same size, hard as all get out, called a heat treating place close by inquiring on the cost to anneal, he laughed at me, apparently not interested in small jobs LOL

OTC Owatonna Tool Company now apparently part of the Bosch umbrella of automotive companies. I have many OTC pullers, pumps and hydraulic tools for doing my industrial service work. Over the years they have been very reliable. I would say worth repairing. OTC had an annoying habit of using odd threads at times that can be problematic. Safety reminders are never out of place. I had a friend of mine get caught up in his sweatshirt and go for a ride through his boring mill, It did not kill him, but he was never really the same after that and finally gave up the machine shop. I find myself remembering that every time I think I need to reach over a moving machine. Micro 100 carbide is some rugged stuff. It's mostly what I use in the portable boring bar which almost never has a proper rigid set up. It lasts much longer in interrupted situations and cutting weld (which is hard on tools) than most other options I find. Cheers to you don and Happy New year

The Micro 100 was used by the screw machine shops in the region here often called Swiss shops. Thanks, looking forward to a new year, this one is worn out!
