Just a FYI. we run Plate tamps daily. Try raking out the hills and bumps. The tamper would run more smoothly. You won't fight it as much and you would get better out come.

I been having a major problem with dirt and gravel sticking to my plate and tearing up my base. I have a smooth running wacker. I cleaned all the debris from it, even sprayed the plate with silicon... I don't trust it anymore, it just makes more work, any suggestions?

I needed a generator for one job and I had the same problem as you, so I bought the cheapest one I could find. Its a Champion 4000 watt and it has been bulletproof, ten years of neglect and abuse later and it always runs.

It's weird how things like that sometimes work out. I have a few "cheap" machines that have worked out, while others disappoint from the beginning. We have a bug generator that we've been using at this homestead during our weekend visits and I believe its a champion, I'll have to double check, and it's been doing great. Nice comment.

The hole isn't leaking, it's to lubricate the outer piece for the belt

If that weep hole leaks, does that mean the vibrator unit is overfilled? Should it be filled to the point that the hole weeps, in the lowest position-would that have enough oil, or can I put a dab of silicon over the hole to minimize the mess, or will pressure/heat blow it out? Thanks

Even if you never need it again after you get the property all done I'm sure that you could always find some use for a 2hp side shaft engine ..... go kart sounds like some good welding practice for the truck and a good use of the engine and always great content LOL

I was thinking about buying one for polymeric sand installation in pavers. I'm really worried about oil leaks and heard the stark shoots out like fountain soda. This model is also the same as what Home Depot rents out I believe. What are your thoughts?

If you convert the 8.5 KN over into the imperial/standard system that's like over 1900 pounds per square foot. That's quite a powerful little plate compactor then.

You mentioned using hydraulic fluid for the vibration motor, I just bought the 6.5hp model and it isn't clear but seemed to say just use SAE 30 for both motor and engine. Is the hydraulic fluid better for that part of the equipment? thx

I only used the hydraulic oil since that's what I read online. It worked fine for me!

Recommended SAE 30, 20, or 10W30 motor oil depending on daily work temps. Does yours leak oil out the "weep hole"-I wonder if I overfilled the vibrator unit-it states to fill to the bottom of the hole in my instructions-wonder if it meant to fill till oil comes out the weep hole in a low position. It's a mess when I shut down, if the hole is pointing down

That looks like a job for a jumping jack instead of plate compactor. Running jumping jacks all day will rattle your brain though, so whenever the plate compactor works, go with that.

You more than likely didn't drain the gas out of the unit, therefore gummed up the carburetor. Always drain out the fuel for long term storage.

This Chinese engine has a history of flooding the bowl when stored. Are you saying it won't turn over, or just that it won't start? If it turns over, I hate to say it but it could take a BUNCH of pulls to get it started to drain the bowl. One other thing, if it has a fuel shut off, turn off the fuel, or simply pinch the fuel line with a clamp (be careful not to pinch it too hard, the line will cut) until it (hopefully) starts. Then turn the fuel on, and it should start normally.

Ethanol fuel? Probably gummed everthing in the fuel lines and carburator bowl.
