I like Axel's "assist" method. 😂 There's a ton of aftermarket support for these things and they can make some REALLY cool crawlers with the right amount of work.

With some mods and upgrades they are really capable. Liang RC makes an ESC tray so a Hobbywing 1080 ESC fits right in and totally changes the truck. He makes other cool parts for them also.

These can actually be really good little trucks. Wpl sells them in an all metal kit version. You use your own electronics. It comes with a two speed trans, shift servo, and steering servo. There's about a billion parts available for it from wpl, on eBay, Amazon, and so- on. I've got all steel machined gears in mine, axles too. I use a Redcat 390 motor, H.W. 1060 esc and a 2 channel HPI radio set. They can be a lot of fun and rugged if done right.

Ive seen some pretty impressive belly dragger builds from the WPLs. I have the C14 body on my utb18 with a mini stagedive chassis. With a Fusion mini 16, this is my favorite rig at the moment.

I have one of these C24. It is such a fun upgrading it. Lots of parts you can buy online. Metal parts, 2 speed gearbox, brushless motor 70mm crawler tires with metal beadlock wheels. That cheap crawler will turn into a beast.

Good way to get the kids into the hobby. I'm 18, but I wish I was 13 again. God, how RCs have evolved. The latest models from WPL on amazon have a 260 motor and new gearbox. The new transmission setup is better than the old setup in my opinion.

I have 3difrent wpl models lots of upgrades out there for them the 6x6 are fun that they have as well even have sound boards you can get. Love seeing the fun you two have together nice thing to share with your son

I have a C24 kit version. Got it straight from WPL RCs website. It comes with a two speed and their soft kit tires. Runing WPL's electronics res v3 as well it's super smooth. Its a really good truck, love the scale and the price.

I fully upgraded the same truck and it’s not half bad full metal axles/ driveshafts different transmission and chassis from another wpl new wheels and tires metal links spent more on upgrading then I bought the truck for but it was a fun project night and day difference.

I have 2.... MY First build was wpl c24-1.... That one has plastic diff gears. I suggest change steering links, A Radio and ESC.... Tires are Terrible. There is mods to do makes th shocks better. ... Anyways I am rebuilding Mine into a WPLc24/MN78 Axles are links are going to be MN78. Replace everything to make it a Functioning crawler. SUPER FUN> He will break it outside in 2 days. Maybe first day.

You forgot to set it up On the ramps and see how it does articulate and side… Funny I did a video almost at the exact time of year at Wreckless track in back last year. Truck held up pretty well for the money though!

This can be quite nice, little scale trail trucks with some upgrades. They'll never be proper crawlers, unless you drop hundreds of Dollars into them, and basically end up using just the body. They do look really nice though, and certainly are cheap. Stock RTR is pretty limited, but like I said, with some metal upgrades and better electronics they can be decent. The WPL kit tires are softer, and way better than the RTR ones on yours, but still pretty basic, compared to what you get on like the 24th scale stuff. You can get a 5mm to 7mm hex adapter and run 1.0", 1.2" or similar with some proper tires.

Having had 3 of these, I am surprised the driveshafts held up. Mine are all from the old days when they were half this price, but the one rtr doesn't have proportional steering or metal axle gears like they do now.

I found the hardware to be terrible. You have to spend some money to get it to be any good. I had a HW1060 in mine which worked well. That hardware is terrible though. Screws are garbage. Looks great though, the body is nice.
