I just picked up one at the hock shop for 140$ tool only. Snagged two 6 amp flex batteries for 315$. I snagged a 16 bar and chain for 35$ and when it’s all said and done it works great. 500$ all in is not bad at all for what you get. It’s a perfect shtf saw, I can charge it with my solar system on the fly.

@themostlymikeshow25822 ай бұрын
There's a good chance that that's why. The LongFit gave me two years or so before it quit charging. It wasn't a bad bang for the buck considering that they sell for 90 bucks. That one was sent to me in exchange for the video. Some say that the cheaper Knockoffs can catch fire, but I never had issues.

I just got done cutting up a 12" thick tree I felled for someone a few weeks ago. I used the DCCS670X1 (DeWalt Brushless 60V 16" chainsaw) and let me just say it was a bad experience...Took 3 full batteries and it felt it really didn't want to cut. I ended up using an american hickory handled hatchet to start and finish the cuts by hand. Maybe another brand of bar and chain would give it the kick it needs. Glad it worked for you!
@themostlymikeshow25825 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching Tool Technical. I have never used the DeWalt 60 volt before. This 20 volt really does the job for me. The trick is just to use the highest amp hour batteries that you can get and don't horse it, and it produces a ton of cuts... I weighed them! 😁
@backwoodsbrooksknives46255 ай бұрын
Just remember if you where using 6ah batteries they are only 2ah at 60v. I chucked up a tree using a 9ah and two 6ah batteries. I needed to charge one of the 6ah batteries to finish but it worked great. The biggest thing is to get a sharp chain.

I liked your video and decided to try the 16" bar but it doesn't fit. The holes don't line up for the tensioner pin. I have the DCCS620 saw and the 531300436 bar and I had to widen the hole to make it work. I then installed the SP33G 16" chain with the 0.325" pitch , but that doesn't work either. It doesn't follow the gear drive and jams. Looking up a chain by my model, it says 3/8" which is 0.375" pitch.

As much as I wish I was sponsored by DeWalt to say that, I am not and I bought the DeWalt saw with my own money. Thanks Bill! I think that I will be building a log roller in a future video, lol. As for the battery, it ordinarily does almost equal to the Dewalt battery. @@themostlymikeshow2582 seriously that’s your conclusion. With the dewalt battery you had no issues. You use the generic battery and had stalled out, and you think it’s the chainsaw?? There is a reason why those dewalt batteries are so expensive. On the other hand I like your Frankensaw. It’s genius. Stop being cheap and use the proper batteries to get the optimal use of your tool
@themostlymikeshow25829 ай бұрын
@@Zeeangelofdeath Thanks for watching and commenting. I suppose that is a possibility that the Knockoff battery could have been the culprit. The saw was running pretty warm though from all of the cutting from the first battery. Now you have me wondering though, what the outcome would have been if I had used the Knockoff first, then the Dewalt 10ah battery. The knockoff 9ah has been in use for over a year now, and I believe that it was worth what they charged for it when that company sent it to me for review. Shortly after I made the review video though, Longfit either changed name or went out of business. I plan to make another of these videos using a fresh two pack of the Dewalt 6ah Batteries I purchased myself on sale recently at Lowe's to see how many cuts both batteries will provide on a fresh charge. Not sure yet if I will get a brand new chain for that test, but it will be coming up.

I'm curious the exact model number of that bar. There's many types of Husq bars. I tried an Oregon 16" bar with the same designated mounting style as their 12" replacement and it wouldn't fit correctly with the chain adjuster. Also the link count on that chain is essential. Not all 16" chains have the same link count.

Thanks for watching Jerome. Sorry about the delay. I went out to the shop to have a look, and the numbers engraved in the bar are 530 04 45-08 There's another number "1901" directly under it. Then it says 3/8" chain, 56 drive links, and. 050" groove in the bar. The Brand's name of the chain I used is Rotary. I purchased it at a local Power Equipment shop. I hope this helps.

The DeWalt saws can and will, at least in my experience, leak with the cap facing up. I empty my saws after use and hang them cap up; they empty themselves off near all oil. I have most of their saws and every one leaks oil, some worse than others.

Whats your final conclusion on the knock off battery? Is it worth it to buy the brand name or just get the cheap one
@themostlymikeshow25829 ай бұрын
Hi Tom. Of course the original DeWalt batteries are the best. That Longfit brand battery was sent to me and I was a bit disappointed that if you click the link for that battery, it appears that the company must have went out of business. It's a shame, because at the $89 price point, it's been well over a year and I do use that battery almost every time I take that saw into the woods, and it performs remarkably. Maybe not quite as much as the DeWalt 10 amp power, but very good for an $89 battery. I have not purchased any of the other knock off batteries, but if they are as good as that one, they're worth buying if you don't want to Fork out the $230 for the DeWalt which is I think what that 10 amp hour sells for. In this video, I am thinking that I worked that saw so hard using the DeWalt battery that the saw was tripping out on thermal. Some people are speculating that it was the knockoff battery, but after letting the saw set for a half hour to cool, it performed very well.

@themostlymikeshow2582 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and the kind words LCCJ. I ran that saw pretty hard that day, and I believe that the DeWalt saw has a thermal cut out that really doesn't matter how much power is in the battery, but the saw is just protecting itself from the motor getting too hot. That long fit battery seems to be excellent value for the buck, however, I believe it says no longer available on Amazon, and I don't know if any of the other 9 amp hour batteries are reputable that they have on there. If you look on my Channel at the chainsaw stuff playlist, I do a review on that battery. There are also other off-brand battery chainsaws as well as the DeWalt 10 amp hour battery and the torture test with it. I hope this helps.

@gs1100ed3 ай бұрын
@@themostlymikeshow2582 there are 2 halves of the plastic oil tank that are molded together. This creates a seam and the 2 halves are not perfectly lined up. This can affect the seal around the oil filler cap and the vent line. If you use RTV on those locations, it will stop the leak. The 2 halves of the chainsaw case must be split to access the chain oil tank and make those repairs. This is a known manufacturing issue that DeWalt should have recalled early models of their electric chainsaws. I will post the video that has step-by-step instructions to make the repair.
