You definitely need to load the bottom bed up for them to work, they're similar in operation to a Pan-American Jig or Duplex Jig, they work to their most efficient when the bed is fully loaded with materials you want processed. But people figure that out after their first time running it.

Yep the fine dust on the right was from those few shovel fulls you saw on the video. So there is some good gold in that pile.
@mobiltec12 жыл бұрын
I had to figure out for myself that you need to prime the riffle tray in order to get the thing to work. In other words you have to fill up the tray before the bellows starts to move the material. The instructions that come with it are not all that great but I think soon they will be changing that.

You should have asked Jeff Williams! And yeah, you're gonna get ... dusty.

Real good point. But "nugget shooting" in the desert sounds like a lot of fun so I want to do it later when I have a little more money to invest.

I have the same keen 140, electric motor, does work if you can get the gold to it, nice vid

I've been waiting to see how that contraption works. Looks like if there's gold in there, it *will* find it. So how much gold do you have to find to pay for the gas it took to generate the free energy required to run the thing?
@Aussie217174 жыл бұрын
I soon learned with the keene mini bellows version, it doesn't move the dirt down and out of the bottom screen until the whole of the bottom screen is full of soil. The air escapes where the soil is not on the bottom screen causing the rest of the soil to stop and just sits there. Fill the screen and put more in regularly so the bottom screen is always full. Not a great design.

No I don't have one. Won't be able to afford one for a while either after buying this thing LOL. This summer I plan to get one though.

did you bring a metal detector, makes it easier in more ways than one

Might try that.

Sure. They only cost around $4k to $6k and they will only show nuggets. Not fine gold such as what we recovered here. I do plan on getting one later when Im rich and famous though LOL....

Not sure how this is a test. If you were to put $50 worth of various size gold into a sample, run the machine and find at the end a good fraction of the $50 of gold that would be a test.

It wasn't twenty feet. How do I carry a wheel barrow in my Blazer with all the other crap?

That's not a 140 model. You've got a puffer, not a 140 Vibrostatic. Nice machine, though.
@mobiltec10 жыл бұрын
There are two 140s. The kind that uses a blower and the kind that uses a bellows. I have the kind that uses the bellows but it is still a 140. I ought to know. I bought two of them and talked to Pat Keene myself on many occasions about it. I even modified mine and Keene Engineering is now using my mods.
@MrTommyOMochain10 жыл бұрын
mobiltec Maybe I'm wrong but I'm just going on what Keene calls their different models in their online catalogs. They call their hand crank puffer the "DW2," the conversion kit to allow it to run on electricity "DW12C," and their puffer which comes from the factory set up to be either hand cranked or run on electricity "DW12V / DW212V," depending on which online catalog you look at. They call their Vibrostatic models the "140" and the larger "151." www.keeneeng.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=DW www.mjcoinstore.biz/images/keenecatalog2012.pdf

Thomas Graves Yes they do seem to have designations for all that stuff now. We got our two before they had done that I guess because there was no mention of anything else but the 151 when we got our bellows type 140s. Ours is the crank/electric. I like it but would much rather have the electrostatic one. The 151 is a bit much for one or two people.
@texanonline12449 жыл бұрын
and you couldn't bother to prescreen your material first ? why stand there raking at it instead of a simple screen. duh
@mobiltec9 жыл бұрын
+Texan Online If you mean "classify" there was no need to for that material. If you look at my others I do classify. It just depends on the material. Besides,,,, we were just learning back then. We've gotten a hell of a lot better at it now. So how much gold do you come up with in Texas?
@sausage4mash12 жыл бұрын
I'd love to have a go at that ,best of luck to you
@sausage4mash12 жыл бұрын
can't you use one of them metal detectors that can hone in on gold
@sausage4mash12 жыл бұрын
oh jebus didn't know they were that expensive ,if you could afford one of them you probably wouldn't need to be looking for gold anyways
