As a Mora fanboy myself, I personally think its to expensive,steel isn't something special, but good quality like before. The wooden handle isn't flush with the metal that's in between the two parts. The Mora is a beautiful knife and I trust your assessment of it. I’ve not had the pleasure of using one and probably never will. Priced out of my range. I do have the Garberg and a couple of other Moras like the Companion. I think the most I’ve ever paid for a knife was 110 or so. While I do like knives, guns, hatchets, axes, etc etc I just can’t afford a lot of the stuff that’s out there....

Here in Sweden you can get it for 200 dollars but that is still ridiculously expensive. I have almost every Morakniv out there but this i will never buy. I went for a Casström No.10 SFK in curly birch instead, 174 dollars with firesteel included. A much more beautiful knife and it has a better steel.

Mora must think they are the new Fallkniven. I can pick up an S1Xb (I have 2) for less than this knife. If it is indeed that recycled sandvik steel then it should be priced as 50$ or less (bushcraft black is ~50$). Mora needs to stick to what they know, leave the premium knife making to the professionals (keep it simple stupid).

I own several Mora knives and they are great knives for not much money. I can't see paying almost $300 for a Mora which uses the same Sandvik Stainless in their other models. Like I said, Mora makes some great knives for the price but this one doesn't have a super steel to justify the Cost.

Thank you for a straightforward, and honest evaluation. 👍 I am somewhat brand loyal with some things. Morakniv, is one of them. I own 9 Morakniv knives, and use one daily. And have always enjoyed working with them all. Morakniv builds well designed knives. They're VERY good for the price. However, I do believe that they've made a mistake in this line of knives. They're far too overpriced. And that's where my loyalty faulters. So I'll stick with my well priced knives from Morakniv, and pass on this line of knives from them.

So this is like if you were looking at a Garberg and you said “hmm I like this knife, but I want it shaped a bit more like a Companion HD but with boring white wood, and in a less good steel. And yes I’m willing to pay an extra $200 for that.” Haha I dunno man it just doesn’t make sense to me at all. Ash is relatively cheap and it isn’t even a great wood for outdoor tools. Plus it just looks so blah. And the black on the blade looks very cheap, more of an MTech look than a “straight from the Swedish forge” look. I wouldn’t even choose this if I saw it in a store hanging next to a Companion for the same price.

Can't say i disagree with any of this. Also don't see one + for spending more than i already did on my garberg a couple of years ago. In what way is this a better knife? All i saw was a nicer sheath, which is no problem to sort out for a garberg. Nah im just not seeing it either. I had only just got used to spending £60-70 on a mora and now theyre telling me this, at best mediocre woodlore copy is the answer to every mora owners wish list, as if a hundred different and better options didn't already exist at that price point. Can't see this one setting the knife world on fire. Oh well. God bless one and all.

Nice and honest review. I've been using Moras since I was kid a starting with the Mora scout. I love the Garberg, Kansbol and Companion, but what the heck happened with the Ash Wood-series? Cool design, but who put the prices on these? After this I made up my mind and ordered a Fällkniven A1 instead.

When someone says "Recycled steel" I really don't think that is a merit or demerit of the steel. Considering modern manufacturing processes, recycling steel is a long practice to the point it would be safe to assume some to all the steel in some people's houses are recycled steel.

Bought an LT Wright Genesis scandi in magnacut for around $330. Super nice knife but it still chips and rolls even though I’ve sharpened it multiple times. It’s great but honestly not really worth the price jump over it’s A2 counterpart!

This knife makes me sick. Of i wanted this, id buy a Garberg on sale, get an even better steel, and put my own handle on it. Or i coups save even more money and buy a Kansbol or Mora 2000, similar sizes blade with a different grind, and a sturdy 3/4 tang that i bet id never break, with the same steel as this expensive Mora. Buuuuut if they make some money on this, and it lets them keep the rest of the Mora Knives cheaper...... then i suppose i wont complain Now if they start raising the price of normal moras...... lets just say that Mora has competition now and they cant afford to be raising their budget knives cost. I have noticed that their classic knives have gotten rid of the red paint, and now stain the wood (same wood type as the original) but now the price has doubled, going from $25 CAD to $50 CAD which i think is a hell of a rip off considing the only difference is the wood finish

The Mora Wit is the best and most versatile knife ever used. Not everything is about the steel. It would be even better with Sleipner steel, but this knife is still the best with Sleipner. I bought it for 200 USD. Totally worth it. It’s better than Companion for food prep, whittling, ferro rod, batoning. The Companion is now the second most versatile knife now.

For $200 you need to try out some more blades my friend. Much better ergos, and materials out there for less. Try the Esee RB3 for $120 it’s a way better knife. Or the Brisa Trooper $160 and it is mind blowing. Or the Joker Ember for $120 better sheath, handle and steel.

Whatever the steel is, the fact is that the Mora Wit knife is the most versatile knife ever created. Please show me another knife that is excellent for both carving/whittling AND food prep. I really love the Wit knife from Morakniv, regardless of the steel. It holds a good edge.

I actually have both the Lok and the Wit. The Wit is a better bushcraft knife (it’s labeled bushcraft knife) because it’s slimmer and better at food prep than the Lok (labeled wilderness knife). Also better handling feel and all round purpose knife. So I’m going to sell the Lok and keep the Wit.

Im not making an excuse for them because that is ridiculous but if i remember correctly, years ago i watched a Mora Video on KZbin and one of the guys there said it was difficult for them to make full tang blades because of their machinery. Apparently the machines they have are set up for rat tail tangs and what not. Maybe thats the issue. Its still not an excuse because theyre playing catchup with almost every other fixed blade manufacturer but its the only thing i can think of.
