The Mora is a beautiful knife and I trust your assessment of it. I’ve not had the pleasure of using one and probably never will. Priced out of my range. I do have the Garberg and a couple of other Moras like the Companion. I think the most I’ve ever paid for a knife was 110 or so. While I do like knives, guns, hatchets, axes, etc etc I just can’t afford a lot of the stuff that’s out there....

As a Mora fanboy myself, I personally think its to expensive, steel isn't something special, but good quality like before. The wooden handle isn't flush with the metal that's in between the two parts. To expensive for my liking to be honest, but there will be people enough to buy it and show on KZbin

I own several Mora knives and they are great knives for not much money. I can't see paying almost $300 for a Mora which uses the same Sandvik Stainless in their other models. Like I said, Mora makes some great knives for the price but this one doesn't have a super steel to justify the Cost.

When companies think its okay to price jack like this thats when i start to only wait for sales then cause if they can't respect the customer and intentionally inflate the price then wonder why people go for the foreign produced product then they should catch the hint that its not okay all they effectively have done is priced themselves out of the market.

@@Horde334 It's a bad brand move, cause it shines badly on Mora as a company.. If they wanted to price it high and have a reason for it, they should have explained it in a video why it's worth that type of money... Maybe the steel costs more if you recycle 80% or such, I don't know..

Thank you for a straightforward, and honest evaluation. 👍 I am somewhat brand loyal with some things. Morakniv, is one of them. I own 9 Morakniv knives, and use one daily. And have always enjoyed working with them all. Morakniv builds well designed knives. They're VERY good for the price. However, I do believe that they've made a mistake in this line of knives. They're far too overpriced. And that's where my loyalty faulters. So I'll stick with my well priced knives from Morakniv, and pass on this line of knives from them.

I think the people at Mora had dinner with the people who price Fallkniven and thought why don't we charge those kinds of prices? I have a few Mora companions and use one as a dedicated mushroom hunting knife. Works great, light weight, ergonomic, and easy to clean! I also have a Garberg and use it for camping, etc. Pretty decent but don’t prefer the scandi grind nor the hard plastic handle. Still, it works and I’m not afraid that it will get damaged or dinged up, cuz it’s built solidly. But this new series makes no sense for the money, at all? I would like to see them hire a knife designer and put out something high end that deserves $280!

Thanks for the excellent video Aaron. I agree with everything you had to say. I think Mora is hoping that their name alone gets some people to buy this knife, thinking they are getting a super premium blade. Guys like us, that actually understand what type steel was used to make this knife, immediately question the price and quickly see that this item SHOULD be priced at somewhere around $75 bucks. It is constructed out of budget steel. Don’t get me wrong, i like Mora’s use of this steel, but IN THEIR $20 dollar knives.

@@gideonstactical For real - yes ! I have 2 Mora LMF & 1 Companion for which I paid $50 each for the LMF & $40 for the Companion. Yes I’m happy with those knives at those prices. No I’m not impressed with the quality of the stainless steel they use, yes it has and takes a good edge but it will develop rust spots quite easily when compared to my Rapala fishing & filleting knives. As for bush craft and fire prep our native timber would (and does) dull knife blades very quickly. So at $280usd ($413aud) that’s a ridiculous price for what it is, you are getting into the realm of custom or semi custom made. Just my thoughts I think some knife companies are going to price themselves out of the market. p.s. great work on the channel 👍

Im not making an excuse for them because that is ridiculous but if i remember correctly, years ago i watched a Mora Video on KZbin and one of the guys there said it was difficult for them to make full tang blades because of their machinery. Its still not an excuse because theyre playing catchup with almost every other fixed blade manufacturer but its the only thing i can think of.

Mora definitely hit a foul ball with this one! When it comes to knife steels, I want a premium steel--I don't two cents about the "environmental cache" of it being "recycled". That might work all right for polyester used in jackets, but I don't see how you could keep the alloys pure in recycled steel. The price is waaaaay too much and, as Gideon noted, the handle configuration could lead to discomfort when using it for a long stretches at a time. This looks like the "Edsel" of Mora knives---and I have both the carbon steel and stainless steel Garbergs, and I love them---but I wouldn't pay over $50 for this $280 knife.

I suppose if you are a die hard mora fan then ok. There are so many knives at this price point that completely eclipse this. You gotta hand it to mora for raking in the bucks the way they do.

It's a nice looking knife but 12c27 is not worth it I didn't pay much more for my bark river bushcrafter in 3v and the shadow boxing around scales were a mistake

I love everything about this knife except the price. Asking that much for a knife with 12C27 steel is ludicrous. I can damn near get a full custom with better steel for that.

I like Moras but not that much. Would take a Joker Ember first any day of the week (and did). Apart from everything you have mentioned, I just find this knife really ugly. Thanks for the review.

I would never spend that much on that blade. It would definitely have to have a premium steel before I considered it.

As long as there are people spending more than $100 on a cutting tool, there will be companies, which make money on it.

I'd but the two sets of new Victorinox Venture Pro knives and a 6-pack of beer for nice camping day...then buy another for evening instead of this new Mora.

Unbelievable. Anyone who thinks this is value for money needs their head read. Quite possibly one of the most overpriced knives I've ever seen. This and the Bugout.

When someone says "Recycled steel" I really don't think that is a merit or demerit of the steel. Considering modern manufacturing processes, recycling steel is a long practice to the point it would be safe to assume some to all the steel in some people's houses are recycled steel.

To me it sounds like Mora is just trying to please the US market and know they will pay crazy money. This basically started with the Bushcraft Black and the Garberg but this is extreme.
