Did I mention they have a lifetime warranty no questions asked on batteries and everything. Take it from someone who actually uses this stuff just go with Ridgid Tools. There is only one problem I saw with your testing. You should have used 2 different buckets of dry-wall mud. That way each drill could have a fresh start. The Makita drill testing loosened up a lot for the DeWalt. The friction that occurs inside the mud no doubt raised the temperature of the mix which made it easier to stir.

I'm a lineman by trade, and we use auger bits everyday to drill through wooden poles for cross arms and brackets . We use impact drills with the 7/16 quick chuck , they are designed for those bits . The impact action gives you zero arm twist so extra handle is not needed and have no doubt would have chewed completely through that log. Great video!

The popularity of Milwaukee tools on this channel confuses me, with how many comments I also see that are somewhat hostile to Chinese industry. Is it just not common knowledge that Milwaukee is a Chinese company (and has been since 2005), are these two groups separate, or is there some other reason for this odd duality?
@raffi2287
@raffi2287 2 жыл бұрын
@@ObiwanNekody few things, the power tool industry is mostly dominated my Chinese made products. Most of the hate from Chinese products at the end of the day has to do with hand tools. Power tools are mostly coming out of China, and aren't bad at all usually. Even DeWalt is Chinese, it just has the misleading "made in USA with global materials" which to me, still means china. I can order a drill from China, slap a sticker on it, and say it's now assembled in the USA. Nothing against Chinese manufacturing, it has its place, but hand tools are not typically one of them

I had a Milwaukee M18 hammer drill that was stolen from me and the impact with the kit also just seemed to lose its power at about the same time. I replaced both with a Makita 18V hammer and impact kit and I never looked back. They aren't brushless but they are soo much nicer to work with. Good power, battery life is still impressive after 3 years of continuous commercial use and I've just always felt like they were much lighter and more nimble to work with. I have also acquired a Milwaukee M18 Fuel hammer drill thats brushless. Though it is a major power house of a drill and its nice to have that type of power in my hand, I still haven't found anything that the Makita couldn't do yet and I just leave the Milwaukee hanging on the shelf in the shop. I didn't even have any other Makita batteries or chargers when I bought these and have since pretty much switch to using mostly all of their power tools. They've all just seemed much nicer to work with over the last few years...

I initially bought into dewalt for work (diesel mechanic). Just this year though I switched to Milwaukee for work and took my dewalts home. Hindsight being 20/20 I would have invested in Milwaukee for work use simply because of the tool set they have come out with for mechanic use. All that said, I got 8 solid years of everyday hard use from my dewalt 1/4 hex impact driver in the shop before I took it home. Dewalt will become my home tools as I feel they have a good selection of more "construction oriented" tools, and like you said I'm invested in the batteries.

For some perspective, I recently had a foray in using a 1" ship auger on a red oak stump. Unsurprisingly my Ryobi cordless drill, said "No" rather quickly; my 1/2 corded Craftsman drill, started letting smoke out and was as gutless as the Ryobi. I know that neither of my drills are super quality, or known for their power, so don't go there. Now there's no doubt, that red oak tougher than DF, but none the less, I'm impressed with those two.

Makita, DeWalt, and Milwaukee are all excellent tools. They are my go to for electric tools. Ingersol Rand for air tools. IR also makes an excellent 1/2 inch drive cordless impact. Bust lug nuts off trucks all day with one.

I use a 1 inch auger everyday (electrician). I bought a dewalt 60 volt in line stud and joist drill. It's insanely powerful

You should try the porter cable drills that you get from bi mart. We have had one for the last few years and it is tough. Built a cabin,fences,shed and it is still going strong.

Ingersoll Rand (D5140) has a beastly 1/2" drill that I believe would show those drills up.

One issue you will have with the Dewalt drill is the chuck. Running that large of a bit will cause it to have some issues overtime. Nothing that prevents you from using it, but finicky stuff you'll have to get used to. I've owned 3 of the 700 series, a 996, and the 999 in the video. You may be better off buying their hole hawg (DCD470). It's expensive, but that's a drill you won't be able to break.

@@adamdavis2788 lmao absolutely not. Milwaukee is leagues ahead of DeWalt, and that's coming from me who owns DeWalt. I'm not rich enough to get Milwaukee tools but I know they are way better than mine

The Rohm chucks in the DeWalt premium drills are what set them apart from Milwaukee and Makita, far and away built for tougher applications.
