Nice comparisons! Thank you for making this and sharing your findings. I agree the NXN8 is sounding great across the board aside from the cupped position. When I’ve had students leading worship and forget their mic technique in the moment and start cupping, I’ve added clear double sided tape under the capsule to gently remind them to keep their hand more in the middle of the handle.

SM58 was one of the first great universal microphones and lots of myth around it. Not everyone is a microphone specialist and they’re just sheep following the herd. Shure marketed that position brilliantly. Giving something else then SM58 will get frowned upon, every time. It’s a marketing myth that there’s still nothing like the SM58 on the market. I deliberately do not have SM58’s in my microphone case. People should use their ears, not their eyes. My go to mic is the SE V7 for the same reason you indicated with the nexadyne: you can dial back stuff. But I agree, it’s all about taste. Although it should be…..

Yip. Plenty mics out there that have much better quality sound the SM58 in general.

The communication delivery of this video was so “chewy” i hated listening. I was nervous listening to it. Could not focus!
