What is the point when you spend the extra money to buy these levels and they don't stand by their product warranty. Good bye Stabila. Thanks for doing this video it opened my eyes.

So a bent level or a level with bubbles that don't work void the warranty. That means the warranty is only good as long as your level works properly. What's the warranty for? In case you're not satisfied with the colour or the weight?

that is brutal customer service for a top level (no pun intended) company in the fine instrument measuring industry. I have many different size and style levels by Dewalt, Milwaukee and Empire and was just in the process of buying 3 new Stabila levels....never had a Stabila before and figured i would treat myself to 3 new ones for all the hard work I do everyday. BUT, I WILL NEVER BUY A STABILA AND WILL RECOMMEND TO ALL MY CONTRACTOR BUDDIES NOT TO BUY STABILA EITHER. Like the one guy commented, that crappy customer service just cost Stabila tens of thousands of dollars . Stabila levels are so expensive that you would figure that at least 10-20% of the cost is for warranty returns. Just stupid how some companies have no common sense when it comes to customer service and warranty. When I buy tools ( i own mainly Hilti tools) i am quite willing to pay considerably more for a quality tool made by a company that stands behind their products and honors their warranty (Hilti is probably the best company i know of....when i return a Hilti on a rare occasion, it is always NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND REPAIR OR REPLACE FOR FREE) . Stabila customer service is a total joke and shame on them and I hope all your viewers stop buying Stabila....just a profit hungry German company, raping consumers with overpriced measuring instruments. Check out A Concord Carpenter video of how weak Stabila bubbles are compared to Milwaukee and Dewalt during a fair and accurate abuse test. Love the channel and great to see Jamie back in the saddle again. What a tremendous recovery. Jamie you are probably totally surprised at how much you are able to do since getting back to work. The price of replacement is painful. An eight footer is about $ 300 after taxes. For that price I could have bought 3 Johnson’s, or Empires, etc. Someone I work with just purchased an 8’ Empire with an inaccurate plumb vile. They are not perfect. Stabila levels can be difficult to read if your sight isn’t good or you have a hard time splitting differences. However, they are very durable. As an aside, they are guaranteed to be accurate to with in 1/32 in 6’. That comes out to 52 thousandths of an inch per foot. That 4 footer was guaranteed accurate to within .0208”, which is about 1.5/64” per 4 feet. Any inaccuracies greater than that gets it sent back. No one can sight straight and flat to that tolerance.
@dav3eii7254 жыл бұрын
Evil Simeon if your accuracy theory is true then voiding the warranty is absolutely the easiest to void. Almost as if a thermos balanced on the level would cause it to deflect enough to void their warranty parameters. Sounds to me like while their products are very accurate, their delicacy makes them impractical to use with confidence on an active construction site.

Spirit Levels Warranty Overview for the United States and Canada. STABILA spirit levels will maintain their stated accuracy for life. The fixed vials on all STABILA levels will not fog, leak, or become inaccurate. If they do, you will be given a new level. Vials that are melted due to excessive heat (example: welding) are not covered under the warranty policy. Bent or damaged frames void warranty. Laser and Tech (Electronic) Levels We will repair, without charge, any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship for two years from the date of purchase. Must have copy of receipt for after sale service. Accessories: Tape Measures, Tripods, Cases, Grade Rods, Etc. 30 Day Warranty against manufacturer defects from the date of purchase. Moving Parts, I.E. protractor vials, and the extending portion of Plate and XtL levels are not covered under the lifetime guarantee. Levels with an extension arm that are used on a daily basis require annual user maintenance. We offer an easy to install "maintenance kit" (part #33000) available through your local Stabila dealer that provides all of the slide bearings, lock parts, a new tension spring, wrenches and instructions to renew your slide assembly in less than five minutes. An easy to follow how-to video titled "Plate Level Maintenance" is also available on the video page of this site. Is The Level Accurate? Please note that while "stacking" two levels together to compare vial readings is a common way to check a level, it is not the correct way to check a vial's accuracy. With a stated accuracy of .029 degrees (1/32" in 72"), one level can be .029 degrees to the left and the other .029 degrees to the right, causing a slight difference in the compared bubble positions, while both bubbles still maintain their 1/32" in 72" accuracy. The "correct" way to check a vial's accuracy can be done quickly by following the instructions below. To check the "level" or "horizontal" vial's accuracy, place the level on any flat surface. Make a mark on the flat surface at one end of the level. Read the bubble & remember where it is. Turn the level 180 degrees (end to end), placing the level right on the line drawn from the original end placement. Read the level. If the bubble returns to the same place, the level is accurate. If it does not, it is not accurate. Do it again, regardless of the reading. To check the "plumb" or "vertical" vials, place the level against any door frame or wall. Make a mark on the wall beside the top vial. Read the bubble & remember where it is. Flip the level side for side (not end for end!). Read the level. If the bubble returns to the same place, the vial is accurate. If it does not, it is not accurate. Do it again, regardless of the reading. To check the second "plumb" vial, turn the level end for end. Repeat all of the steps as done for the first "plumb" vial. All Laser, Tech (electronic), and Plate Levels should always be returned to Stabila for warranty evaluation. Warranty service procedure Please return your level(s) to Stabila for evaluation. Stabila will inspect and return or replace your level(s) within 48 hours of receiving them at our facilities. Please package the product as well as possible and send it via FedEx, UPS, or certified mail. Please include the following information with your level: Name, return address, and phone number, or simply fill out and print the shipping label and return form available below. Please include a return form for each level that you are returning. Listed are the electronic tools that are currently serviceable. If you have tools not listed and have questions please call 1-800-869-7460 and ask to speak to the Warranty Department.

Yah they actually do essentially epoxy the vials in place. Not sure if the component is individually replaceable. Sure, it might have been SLIGHTLY bent, but that does not constitute “abuse” in my book, ESPECIALLY considering that their target customers are hard working builders that are notoriously tough on tools. They know this, otherwise they wouldn’t have developed a vial mounting process that is so robust. End of the day: I ain’t even mad, Stabila, I’m just really disappointed.

Having said that, I can on any given day check my Stanley level against a laser and it's good. I do it all the time. They just want every one who potentially saw this to NOT buy their products-good job Stabila.As of today 6-24-20--15,379 people will NOT be buying your products...that was a good business decision 🤔

That sucks! I have a 6' R beam. So far its outlasted all the empires and Johnson's 3x.

So glad I didn't purchase one.

Why is that? Only because he didn't got a refund or a fix on that, does not mean they produce bad levels...

Because part of the reason you fork over the thick dough is having the assurance that it will be the last one you'll have to buy. Might as well spend less if you're going to have to replace it anyway.

@@Asientabs No. Because a company that claims to have a lifetime warranty on their premium products refuses to honour the said lifetime warranty.

Knowledge is power! If the level is bent then the vial will not be accurate. Would any one buy or deliberately use a level that was inaccurate? I'd would be more appreciative for the answer instead of complaining about it. I'm also thinking that level has paid for itself many times over.

"warranty for life" Unless if you bent it, also we don't change the vials cause they are moving parts... So, what is the life warranty about? I don't even bother sending the level for warranty purposes... I just buy a new one. At least I don't want another 30 bucks with useless shipping

That level is straight. Stabila's warranty is garbage. No reason to pay the extra money if the warranty is not there when you need it.

Apparently they don’t expect you to ever use their levels, maybe your supposed to put them on your trophy shelf for display.

Dunno, managing to actually bend the frame does suggest a pretty enormous force was applied.. isn't the warranty just for manufacturing faults rather than damage?

Stabila FAILED miserably! They lost me as a customer for certain.. All the more reason to support 🇺🇸 made products !
@Asientabs4 жыл бұрын
Good for you. But stabila did not fail. Go to their website and look up tge warranty policy. Than look at Jamie's level and u will understand.

American brands aren't synonymous with proper customer service. Comcast, Apple, Verizon, Spirit Airlines.... All American.
