hey guys! loving these series of videos, i think they are super useful for us newbies. Among friends who strat paragliding i've seen we are always doubtful about conditions, recognizing laminar and turbulent wind, how to choose a good spot or daytime to do GH, knowing which is the best wind speed to do it... last week for instance i thought it was a good day to GH found myself dragged because of high wind gusts.... so much to learn...anyways, thanks for the videos!

Nice demo. I'd be curious to see how things change when you do a forward launch in the test at 3:36. I think in a forward launch, the wing will be low on the side where the wind is coming from, which is the opposite of the reverse launch.

this kind of tranning is a key to easy takeoff... we must practice as much as we could... could you try do a similar video or a hill maybe?

Took me about a year before I realised I couldn't run under the wing fast enough to correct it when it came up low on one side. Then I learnt to correct by pulling low side A. So as you say on launch always good to be ready with corrective inputs, especially on the A's. As an aside notice that your new glider has single loops on the maillions. Most now seem to be shipped with double loops can help when you retrim. Hospital check today starting full weight bearing on broken foot and about +-20 degree flex in broken wrists, 70 degrees to go, at least I have something to aim at :-)

This Epic is fairly new but a demo glider so I think it has already been checked and loops release because like my base and other current bgd wings they all come with loops I think. Great news on the recovery Chris.

gloves???? where are the gloves? Super cool I think that possition of the wing in relation to the wing its the most important thing in takeoff ... well done mate!

How about a bit of flying in that area? Question 2: when is the new high EN-A wing from BGD gonna come out?
@AndreBandarra1

Good question! Not really sure as glider development and release to the public can be a bumpy unpredictable road

Very interesting. Normally if my wing doesn't come up straight, it goes to the left (as I'm looking at it) and I think it is because I have a tendency to have my hips twisted to the right as I pull the glider up. I wonder if you have a slight asymettry built into the way you pull up, because you tend to have your arms crossed over right over left. Maybe you might have got more consistent results if you pulled up with both the A's in one hand, and it would also have restricted your unconscious compensation for the wing not coming up straight.

Yeah I think you're right, the way we stand, how dominant side, which side is on top etc are all factors that will contribute to unevenness and being aware and trying to compensate with the tools at your disposal is the best way to go

I learned to pull with a slight asymmetry too, I twist my hips so the wing always goes to the left, the way I pull the As also makes it go to the left, which enables me to hold the As with my right hand and pull the brake with my left hand as I twist my hips to the opposite direction while stepping back or sliding forward to balance the asymmetry. It's gonna be hard to dislearn it since it's already in my muscular memory, I never intended that, it came subconsciously by chance during 4 years of ground handling before I could build up enough courage to take off. On the bright side I can now do pretty much anything with any wing.

How can you tell if a wing is out of trim? I have to pull a lot of A’s to get my Buzz Z5 to launch and if I let off it seems that the risers induce a lot of pull on the C lines ( you can see a noticeable crease in the wing at the C connections ) Maybe simulate the b or c lines being too short. Great job, loving all the content.
@Hemersonr
@Hemersonr 6 жыл бұрын
should a inspection is required to verify trimm of the lines? c lines usually have less load than A's and B's some times t they shrink
@AndreBandarra1
@AndreBandarra1 6 жыл бұрын
yeah I think Hemersonr is right, sometimes the C's shrink more than the others as the tension is less and makes your wing hang back a bit. The best way is to get the wing serviced to make sure. If it doesn't have a lot of hours it might be by design though, I'm not sure. Gemma had a Nova Ion 2 that did/does the same think, and when we got it checked it was perfectly in trim... My old Ozono Mojo 1 was the same too.

For reference, on a hill I can just lean back to launch my Z4 in decent wind. No As needed.
