Could try heating coconut oil until a bead of water sizzles, add popcorn and wait until first kernel pops, add the candy, shake the 💩 out of it until the popping is almost finished, turn off the heat, then keep shaking until popping stops completely. If it still burns after those steps it will always be an epic fail.
