Hello how would I test the voltage coming from the outboard?
@boatparts77843 жыл бұрын
The voltage coming from the outboard goes to the battery. You can use a Multimeter or a volt gauge, actually should always have a volt gauge installed on your boat

I need real help. I got a 14ft aluminum boat with a 15hp 1992 Evinrude 2 stroke and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. I didn’t even know it needed the battery. I don’t know where to hook it up to then battery and if it holds a charge without being attached and just I have no idea what I’m doing and there’s no videos to hell

@boatparts77844 жыл бұрын
If it uses a battery then it should charge the battery.

You showed what happens to the numbers when the charging system is working fine. But, what would happen to the numbers if the charging system was not working properly or broken?Would the number just continue to drop lower? Thanks for any help. My motor died today in the ocean. Trying to figure out the problem.

If the volts go to high, to low or don't move it all it should be taken to a professional.

just wondering if you need a charge controller to stop battery from over charging ?
@boatparts77843 жыл бұрын
you shouldn't need it to stop it from overcharging, however you should test it to make sure it does not overcharge. if it over charges then you need to take it into a professional

What happens if its charging at 18v, whats the issue? The rectifier or the staor?
@boatparts77842 жыл бұрын
It could be many things. I would start with linking it with your battery. Use something like a inverter or trolling motor to put a 30% drain on your battery then let the motor charge it back up. The volts should stop when the battery is fully charged. If that doesn't work then you have to start replacing parts.

Question for anybody. My 96 Mariner tachometer went out so I figured that one of the voltage regulators were bad. And I looks like they were. But about the same time I started get hard starts when the motor is hot. Does any body have any experience with this issue. Could this too be caused by the regulators. Any I MEAN ANY advise would be appreciated thanks!
@boatparts77843 жыл бұрын
this is the type of thing I would have to see in person. I recommend taking it into your local certified boat shop

What is the symptom of bad battery, my meter slowly starts gets for 13. To cero but I don't know is the battery or the charger system? Thank you
@boatparts77844 жыл бұрын
You can always have your battery tested at your local auto parts store. I'm not sure what you mean by "my meter slowly starts gets for 13. To cero" if you mean that your motor is charging slowly than that is normal.

Thanks for the video. I have an Evinrude 4 stroke 30 hp wich the voltage goes to 17 almost 18 when goes to the max speed...i cant understand the problem.
@boatparts77844 жыл бұрын
Your volts are way to high, I'm glad you sent me this comment because I was thinking about doing a part 2 on voltage being too high. It's normally 1 or 2 things 1 is that your charging system and Battery are not in sync with each other. This can be easily fixed by draining a portion (30%) of your battery and then allowing your motor to recharge the battery. 2nd Is that there is a broken part and it needs to be looked at by a professional. A side note, keep in mind that not all batteries are compatible with all Motors.

This video doesn't help at all all you did was show the voltage and saying take it to a professional is not helpful either some of us are broke and want to fix it ourselves thats why we are looking for these videos
@l.j.8374 Жыл бұрын
The key words in the title of the video are "testing and checking". It says nothing about repair. It tells you exactly in a very simplistic way how to identify if your charging system is working. Before you insult the producer, ensure you understand the nature of the video.
