@@Xtramedium1961 the difference is, trans guys are taking testosterone that has been medically approved, tried and tested, whereas a female bodybuilder would be getting illegal steroids and wouldn't know for sure how much/what levels she'd have. That's why we get our levels of testosterone checked so regularly as trans guys or nonbinary people who take testosterone, it's not just 'oh here's this hormone that affects your body drastically, take as much as you want! Off you go!' It doesn't work like that lol. It tends to follow a more cisgender male pattern, that's what studies so far have shown. Nothing to do with testosterone or being trans but I started getting massive hair loss while taking omeprazole. This is a drug that is used in gastro problems, it lowers the amount of stomach acid you have in ... well ... your stomach! One of the possible side effects is hair loss. Obviously as a young woman who has the luxury of having really thick hair I was devastated when this started happening. My hairdresser then recommended I try clini-scalp. It’s this set of shampoo and conditioner and then a third thing that you rub I to your scalp twice a day, and I used this for a few months. My hair is now even thicker than it ever used to be before the omperazole, which was pretty bloody thick. Not gonna lie, my hair is now sort of amazing, I’m quite proud of it! 😉😜🤣

I am blessed to be able to make a living doing all these things that I love. This is so exciting; I barely ever get to meet other classical musicians like me. :D

Sei italiana? :) If anything, it made me a better musician, because I am a more sensitive and happier person now. The strength needed to play piano is not the same as that required to carry heavy objects. In fact, many women are fantastic, strong and virtuosic pianists, such as Martha Argerich - and organists, such as Iveta Apkalna. And trust me, some organs' keyboards can be much heavier than any piano.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism almost half a year ago now, and I want to make some noise about hair loss that /isn't/ related to testosterone HRT. I had been sick all my life, but was always told that my thyroid levels were fine. Over last couple years my hair began falling out more and more, until this last summer when it started falling out in fistfuls. I couldn't touch my hair without it breaking. Half a year later I'm still picking hair out of my towels and clothes. If your hair becomes brittle, breaks easily, is overly greasy/dry (my hair was so greasy and dry that my combs were like lint traps because my hair was collecting so much dust and lint), especially if you're also having fatigue and weakness, do NOT let your doctors blame your hair loss on HRT!! That is not what male pattern baldness looks like! And your doctor is doing a disservice if they won't take the time to research the issue, because the information is out there. If you're on HRT, another big symptom of hypothyroidism can be a lack of HRT related changes. For example, my fat never redistributed. I grew facial hair but it was sparse and patchy. My voice dropped but only a little. Essentially all the things HRT was known to do, it didn't do or it did very little. In simple terms, I understand this to be because, when you are hypothyroid, your body doesn't have the means to utilize all that testosterone. In my case, I had fatigue for many years before I started noticeably losing hair and at the time my skin irreversibly thinned as well. On top of that, my mother has hypothyroidism as well and it's known to run in families. And do not believe that TSH is the only hormone that can be used to diagnose hypothyroidism. You need a full thyroid panel which includes testing for at least three thyroid hormones, and a few other thyroid related products. Being on HRT can complicate diagnosis of other conditions, so it's important to research doctors who are familiar with your specific condition. I personally had to self diagnose and then find a doctor who would run the right tests and treat an "unconventional" case like mine. I have to travel an hour out of town to see my doctor but it's beyond worth it to have a doctor who will treat me. I've grown two inches since starting thyroid HRT, my fat finally redistributed, my voice dropped, and I'm finally able to build muscle. TLDR; don't let doctors blame everything on HRT, keep an eye out for compounding symptoms (hairloss, fatigue, lack of HRT related changes), balding is natural but exceptionally brittle, fragile hair is not.

But I do know my dad and grandfather are bald, and so is my half brother. But he has a different dad, so I don't know. It worries me so much that I kind of thing I should just go on T for about a year or so, and then stop when I notice hairloss, and have the results I want. Thanks for the video. I was panicking so much I went and get finasteride pretending to be a cis man and got ripped off, because my country won't prescribe finasteride to anyone with a "female ID." I took it, but fell into a horrible depression. I realized it's not the medication for me, so I stopped, and felt a little better about my hairline. But yesterday I found out that my hairline is still receding, and immediately decided to take myself off T. I tried telling everyone, including my community, my friends, but deep down I don't want to live without it. This country is tough on trans people and when I think about the cis gay boys I like, they didn't like me then, not now, and will never when I go back to looking like a "girl" again. After watching your video, I am thinking maybe I will keep going .... I don't know... I am not a pretty-looking person, and I am already 32, having missed almost every opportunity during my childhood, teenage years, and 20s being the person I am meant to be. No one knew what transmasc non-binary is, they heard about trans women, very few trans men, and no one told me I could be a femme and gay trans boy. I thought I was a heterosexual girl. I feel like I have missed out so much. My journey is just starting out.... so is my transition. I don't want merely six months of joy to be the only time I get to be recognized as "not a girl" in this lifetime. I think about the clothes, the hair, the makeup I want when I get to finally look just like anyone of my cis gay men friends. Is that never going to happen? ....

I would like to add about hair loss if you have major surgery. Especially one that ihas complications (like you did) your body can go into shock between the anesthetic & the surgery which can cause many changes to your skin & hair. Sometimes permanent. I've had many surgerys (2 with severe complications) & have seen changes enough that I asked my Doctor. He explained it to me. I'm a cis female (so not on T) & my naturally curly thick hair is now wavy & fine. Alot fell out. Not all of it grew back. I thought I would share since I know so many trans people have gender reassignments.

one of the biggest reasons i want to stop taking testosterone... i only took it in the first place because i thought i might want top surgery but i got my deep voice and that’s all i really cared about.. god save my thick hair and perfect skin when i stop taking it because the cis men in my family are, indeed, a bunch of balding dudes
@toffletorte5 жыл бұрын
i could never know if the men on my mom’s side had hair loss, since she was adopted, so things like this are terrifying.

Testosterone does not make you bald. High prolactin causes hairloss. When prolactin is low and testosterone is high Hairloss won't occur.

I have high prolactin does this mean I will go bald… (pre-t)

Im very scared to ask to start t and im also very scared to start t and am considering it..im non binary and im very scared that if i start t that I'll get dysphoria even though i already have it
@WhiteN0iz5 жыл бұрын
The best thing you can do is find a doctor who is familiar with nonbinary people, and willing to support your specific goals for transition. I had similar woes - I'm transmasculine, but with nonbinary leanings myself, so I started on a low dose under doctor supervision, with the understanding that if the changes started becoming too much for me, I could quit T immediately.

li the b i find talking things through with others really helps as does having as much information as possible so my suggestion is to chat to as many friends family and especially professionals who specialise in non binary as possible. Also writing down what your thinking is helpful for some people. Good luck 😘

I'm also nonbinary and kind of want to start t but bottom growth would make me incredibly dysphoric
@cheeseburrito835 жыл бұрын
@@existentialstar5290 what i can say to that is do you want it that badly? How bad do you want it? How badly would this part of t affect your life? Its your personal choice and if the pros really out way the cons and you truly want to do it and are willing to take that change to your body then you have to make that choice for yourself!❤ sorry if that didnt make any sense but you know where im getting at heh

Maternal side Grandfather had all his hair, but the his sons were both bald. Paternal side, bald bald bald. Grandfather, brother, and nephews' hair is thinning. I'm thinning up the temples. It's a drag, but I'm not going to commit myself to any kind of drug treatments.

Before he turned 18 my dad's hair had already receded pretty far back, and I don't think either of my granddads went bald that late in life. But my cousins are in their 30s and seem okay so who knows lol

My dad was adopted, so I know nothing about those genetics, and my brother shaves his head so i have no clue! This is one of my biggest worries 😯

I don't know my dad's side at all, but I know my mom's side had descended from Wookie or Hobbit, or both... I lost some hair on top, but gained a LOT of back and belly hair instead... I truly wasn't expecting that lol! It is where it is! :)

Male pattern baldness is very NORMAL. It's common in humans and other closely related primates. It's NOT a disease and it's NOT a bad or negative thing. Why are so many people putting down such a normal thing as baldness? Our DNA is coded for baldness with most men over time. Why not celebrate it as a GOOD thing that is a valued part of being a normal and healthy man!

in my dads family side no men loose their hair but in my mums side every single man lost their hair in their twenties. i’ve got a 50/50 chance, and im scared. i hope i get to keep my hairz

My dad is bald and his dad is to, however his brothers are not bald. When it comes to my mom, my grandad wasn’t bald and my uncles aren’t bald as well. I’m hoping that if I ever go on t, I won’t go bald, but I really don’t know. This is the only reason why I may doubt about going on t

I don't talk to my dad. My mother is adopted. And me and my brother have different dad's. So I'm just playing with fire at this point.

im very afraid of losing my hair if i go on t because i really enjoy preforming and i really want a place on broadway, and i think that'll sort of limit my chances. thats sort of the only reason why im afraid of losing hair, and i really like my hair.

if you have too high testosterone it can lead to hairloss. i think that's independently of how you take T. the way i understand it, on nebido you get more varied levels of T where you have less in the begining and the end but higher levels in the middle between injections. i imagine this could lead to more hair loss than if you use gel.

I have no clue how my family's genetic history is so I have no clue. When I told my friend and they resurched it and started mentioning that I would be shortening my lifespan and could die (Not quite true) That diddent effect me in anyway but as soon as they said that I would lose my hair I had like a massive panic attack like I freaked out. I have already thin hair so I'm like panicking like crazy i have no clue what I'm going to do my hair is like the only thing I care about when it comes to the bad effects of t

Neither my mom or dad's side have hair loss. I grew up with very thick hair. Now 3 years on T my hair is very thin and you can see my scalp through my hair. I'm trying to grow out my hair to make it seem thicker. I tried minoxidil for 3 months with no regrowth. It's time for me to ask my doctor about what I should do next.
