Rip Oliver was my favorite all time Portland wrestler. Especially when he was a heel. Hes by no means the biggest guy. But one of the toughest ever. His trademark doctors note taped up thumb for like 15 years Droped even the biggest guys to the mat when he turned them away from the ref and gave them the thumb to the throat. He may have had some lead fishing weights taped up in there who knows but good drama Awesome days of wrestling long before and so much better than WWE crap I miss it

When I was about 12 or so I went to the armory in McMinnville to watch wrestling. I asked Moondog Moretti for his autograph. He screamed like a little girl "No, get away from me kid" and so I turned my head down and went away. Jerk.

Strange, isn't it? I was so used to hearing Billy Jack Haynes receive the cheers and Rip Oliver receive the boos from the Portland wrestling fans. Were we living in an alternate universe back then or something?
